Hi folks, I was on H1B visa and moved out of US 2 years back. I should have 3 years left on my H1B visa. I am planning to go back to the US now. Do I need to apply for H1B lottery? Or can I reuse my previous H1B. FYI - I work for a different employer now.
My fiancé will be moving from India to US. She did her masters from US but moved back due to some personal reasons. What are some options for her work visa? Anyone been in similar situation?
Does one become eligible to apply for TSA Pre-check once they get their EAD card, or have to wait for the Green Card? I just got my EAD, thus wondering the same. Thanks!
I’m waiting on my h1b transfer. If I got rfe, I really want to use the waiting time to visit my family (have more than enough pto left with my current employer). Anyone know if it’s possible to use my old I797 to get VISA stamp? Then putting notice after I’m back.
My immigration lawyers went radio silent this week. I’m wondering if it’s a sign... I assume they will know if I’m let go?
All the folks out there on a visa (e.g. H1B), what are some side hustles you have to earn some extra $$. Need some extra hope today to keep at it!
EY folks- I am expecting an offer and wanted to understand How much time does H1B transfer takes, start to end from attorneys reaching out to you till you receive approval?
On the I 485 form, are parking and speeding tickets considered criminal acts? Also do we have Alien numbers if we've only been on H1B?
My h1b got approved this year in Consular processing and with all the uncertainty I am planning to change it to a COS instead. Anyone applied for a change to Change of Status from Consular processing. How much time does the process of changing to COS usually take? Potential RFE etc?
Recently was let go from the firm - if I start filing change of status to from h1b to b2 and later on find a new employer who is willing to sponsor, do I need to leave the country while the new h1b is in process?
Any insight into Mastercard Advisors? Have a new grad opportunity there. My start date at a B4 strat got postponed so decided to interview around. I'm interested in data + analytics and would want to go into industry eventually, but conflicted because unlike BA programs at CapOne or Visa, you're still working for an external client. Feel like there will be a broader variety of projects in B4 and while I'm casually interested in fintech, I don't want to get pigeonholed in FS so early on
Looking out for a job, on H1B, company just initiated GC though EB 2. Should I wait until the I140? Can anyone advise about the best way forward? What are the risks
I needed some advise. This is my last attempt on H1-B lottery. I was planning on initiating my H1b lottery from an outside consultancy as well along with my current employer so that I have better chances. I wanted to check if that is legal and I can have multiple H1b filings from different employers? Thanks.
Current H1B expires on Aug-21 but extension has been approved till July-24. I haven’t gotten the new visa stamped as yet since most of embassies are shut and appointments are a mess! Is it safe to move jobs without stamping?
I am seeing a lot of remote roles by Facebook did anyone have any luck in landing them? Did you guys approach a recruiter or just apply online? The last time I interviewed with Facebook they ghosted me after I said I needed H1b transfer. Does anyone know their policy now? I’m planning to apply for data science/data engineering / product roles if that helps. Thanks in advance!
Wonder how Indian Americans (America born) are responding to immigration ban? Havent heard Hasan Minaj taking the center stage yet, and still hoping he speaks up.
I know someone who got his work&travel permit then traveled internationally (it’s been 5 months) to disconnect mentally (he went through a lot in US alone). Then, he got his green card just 2 weeks ago. Does anyone know if the 6 months period will re-start because he got his GC? Or he has to come back regardless before the 6 months period is finished?
If I don’t get a H1B in my last attempt. I have to leave the country. Can I still continue to trade in this country with my SSN and file taxes for my gains in the market here?
Passed over for a promotion a third time, even after doing everything, and more, you’re supposed to? It’s time to GTFO
Sorry to hear this, CP+B’ers...have some friends there who are safe for now, is this the last of layoffs there (CO and LA)? http://www.adweek.com/agencyspy/cpb-cuts-3-percent-of-staff-in-boulder-and-l-a-as-part-of-larger-restructuring/143982
I'm in Silicon Valley, and been in the industry for about 15 years now. Fell into the corporate in-house role and been in those ever since. I primarily do marketing/brand design. I'd love to get to AD level, but I think my main issues has been that I rock the boat a lot and don't play the "corporate game well", piss off the wrong people. Does anyone have any advise for how to advance in corporate environement while keeping the integrity of creative alive?
Swear this isn't a humble brag post, doing retirement planning. Currently 26 years old, making ~180k a year, 170k in tax free retirement accounts. Reasonable to expect 5M by 50 to retire?
Sick and tired of seniors saying “it’s really easy” when they forget we haven’t seen this before and giving zero explanation when you ask a question lol thanks guys 🤷♀️
Recruiter at a Fortune 50 company considering law school. For current lawyers who “hate” their job and are looking for an exit - tell me your why. I’ve networked with lawyers and reviews are a mixed bag. My reasoning for pursuing law: looking for a job that requires more critical thinking than recruiting, like the problem solving nature of being a lawyer, and am interested in either employment law or criminal law.
Strategy folks - how do you get good at … strategy? Recently started at a startup in a role where I’m the only person under the head of our product team who handles the strategy-focus of the company. He wants me to take more ownership from him and I want to crush it but have no relevant experience here and am still fairly junior. Any books or classes? Or is it just trial by fire.
What’s more anxiety inducing. Waiting to hear if your passed your final interview for a job or waiting to hear if your offer on a home was accepted?
Not normally something I have considered but would you all recommend getting travel insurance for an international trip? Got a trip to Belize next week and considering if I should get travel insurance. If so any thoughts on the “patriot platinum international” coverage?
Had an horrible experience at ORD, first the flight got delayed because of mechanical issues, then I was given a seat on another flight when I gave the premier line a call but when I reached the gate

If I try to switch groups, interview and not get it the role. Can I still apply to other openings for the same company?
Just got back from (safe) traveling - NY to Boston via Amtrak - and have my covid vaccine first dose tomorrow. Is there any risk to taking the vaccine while potentially carrying the virus (no idea of chances but I’m feeling perfectly fine)?
What are the ladies wearing to promotion day tomorrow? Want to be casually dressed for a celebration but still work appropriate
It has been slow year. I started to hear there are layoffs going on in my group. I was wondering if there are signs your next? Also do you get an email to tell you are selected or something?
Is there any reason to lateral from one big 4 strategy practice to another other than a comp bump? Working on great projects at great clients right now with a good network, and up for a promo. So not sure I want to risk leaving but didnt receive a raise due to firm performance. Am pre mba and have already switched big 4’s once....
