I usually listen to podcasts or audiobooks. If I’m working from home, I’ll put something on the TV that I’ve seen a million times and can tune out. It acts like body doubling for me & is weirdly helpful. I find music distracting for some reason
I can't work unless there's something playing in the background, music, tv, even just other people talking is fine. Otherwise the running commentary in my head makes me totally forget what I'm physically doing.
I have adhd - I play the at the laundry livestream on youtube, just some lofi beats, and then I open a separate tab and play A Soft Murmur, which is a white noise site where you can control the combination of sounds you hear - like thunder, bells, fire, rain, etc. I find the combination drowns out the white noise and my own thoughts enough for me to focus on my work. Usually if I need to actively think or analyze, I can't listen to podcasts or regular playlists because it gets too distracting.
Wow there’s a lot of us here with ADHD ! I feel at home now , ans thank-you for sharing that! I need some chill music while I work in a already loud fast paced job ! So any rye of lute music is take any day !
Brown noise or instrumental music. Just can't have singing or I'll get distracted by it. I usually split my time between 50's-60's jazz and beat-based chillout music. Emancipator, Little People, Tycho.
I usually put on some meditation music, or even just the news in the background while I'm working. I cannot work in silence. It's so much more depressing.
No music usually. But if I'm fortunate enough to have a tedious repetitive task that doesn't require deep thought, I'll put on Solar Fields, Carbon Based Lifeforms, or similar chill but energetic artists to get into a nice groove.
I need silence to read and write; basically every task that requires too much thinking and concentration because I just can't think. It will take me 5 minutes to read a sentence if I'm in a noisy room. However, I do work well with music when it's more of a physical task.

Pre- COVID, I’d often work at Starbucks for the crowd noise when I needed to get my head clear
There is a playlist on Spotify which is my go to: Background Beats. It really helps me. Would love to know if anyone has similar playlists/stations.
Deep Focus playlist or Beats to Think To on Spotify
I have found my people. Thank you all for the great suggestions, and keep them coming.

Somedays lofi, other days silence. I like techno beats for hyper focused work
Depends. If I want music without words I have the Cello Song radio.
Sorry ADHD made me do it. Lol Pandora and it's just one I created from that song and updated

When I’m doing finance/math I like bad reality tv: Dance Moms, Real Housewives, Selling Sunset. When it’s word stuff: than silent

I prefer silence. If I need to drown background noise I love Alex Cruz. Literally
