What’s the best way to get a TS/SCI in consulting? Will Python, R, SQL, and cloud certs help land a project in addition to networking?

6 months in at a new firm. 4th year attorney. Completely new practice area from what I did previously. The partner often sends the random potential client call ins my way. Many times, they have questions related to things I’ve never done and he only provides guidance if I can pull him away from something else to ask. I’m super low on hours but feel that it would be ethically wrong to take on a case involving an issue Im totally unfamiliar with and not confident handling. Wrong approach?

Hi all! My hubby and I are were talking recently about starting a family. I just turned 29 and have been feeling like I’m behind with life, in a lot of things (work, life milestones, etc). I finally got a FT job last August after several years of contracts and unemployment so I’m grateful I have a steady income. I still have big career goals and want to eventually be promoted (wishful thinking).

My question is, will having children really hinder my career journey? Do I wait?

How do I find local attorneys to pair up with on cases? I’m licensed in an absurd number of cases and practice in debt defense/bankruptcy. So far, in all the states except my home state, all I’ve done is debt defense because with the 341s, it’s a little trickier than just sending local counsel. I’d draw up the plan and the attorneys in other states handle the more local aspects such as court appearances. I’m not asking how to get the clients, do a bankruptcy, or ethically split fees. My first job out of law school was with a state regulatory agency so comp was slotted and basically limited to salary and PTO. What should I be looking for when I interview in-house? With a firm?
