Second year in a row that holiday stress has given me heart palpitations. Not going to bother to tell my family either
I am going to be joining Accenture’s Strategy & Consulting division shortly, I need to book a trip later in the year. I was wondering does Accenture have a mandatory shutdown period over Christmas for which we need to keep our Annual Leave? Also does Accenture’s holiday year start on Sep 1st?
Silly question- But Is today a business/working day for most people? I was about to text/email a broker who helped me find an apartment last year but not sure if I’m being inconsiderate considering we’re still in the holiday season. Need help finding a new apartment. Thanks !
There’s something magical about a holiday campaign that isn’t trying to get me to sign and/or drive anything.
Do folks send their current and former clients holiday cards? Thinking of doing it to keep relationships.
How many vacation days do Deloitte get?
TC aside, convince me why taking a EY SM role would be a terrible idea…currently around 220 TC and beautiful WLB except PTO sucks
I took spontaneous PTO (4 days but really 3 days as I worked a bit today) (also, I was highly encouraged by my mentor at the firm to take PTO this week before busy season hits next week.) I came back and got scolded for not letting my reviewer know (a partner btw). I was planning to work on the engagement next week. I feel awful and cried after reading the partner’s email. I’m still uneasy. Yes, I made a mistake but the email just made me feel awful. The worst part is that (Cont.)
I want to take off about a month for my wedding + honeymoon and not sure how to approach with my boss. She already thinks 2 weeks is too much time off I’m okay with taking the month unpaid. Advice?
Anybody been to Europe for vacation during the winter? I'm considering planning a trip for some skiing / snow fun around Christmas. Any recommendations on places to go?
Supervisor said I couldn’t have week off for vacation this summer bc another coworker of higher seniority asked off the same week and two people can’t go on vacation at the same time because of staffing. But this coworker that asked off works different shift than me? He works 1st shift I work second. We have a total of 8 workers and no more than 4 work a day. can easily be covered. This has never been a problem until this year (we got a new supervisor). we’re used to being short staffed anyway
2nd year here that got f***** over by a colleague. We were supposed to work on a memo due in two days but she went completely MIA. She knew I was going on vacation this week. I told her I’d be working through the weekend so she could bring the memo across the finish line. Now I have to crunch on my vacation. I hate badmouthing people (and I don’t plan to) but the idea that she can get away with blowing off a colleague without any sort of consequence pisses me off. Thoughts on how to handle?
Tax friends, putting in my notice post 10/15. Is it frowned upon to take a PTO day during that two week notice?
How many PTO days do you get and how long have you been at your company? I get 20 days PTO and up to 10 paid sick days. Been here 1 year
can someone please let me know the firm's policy on time off for loss of a close family member? how long can one take and is there any criteria on relationship with the deceased? Thank you
Any thoughts on negotiating more vacation time with a new company?
Manager leaving Accenture for a specialty firm in Public Sector. Two firms competing for me have offers on the table.
The one I like told me they just don't negotiate vacation and everyone from the C-suite down gets three weeks.
Losing two weeks a year of vacation sounds awful! Any thought on negotiating? I have a pretty strong position right now.
I'm open to options. Though they kind of already nixed the idea of unpaid PTO.
Is there anything stopping me from taking PTO a few business days prior to departing from the firm? (Ex: Departing on a Wednesday, and taking PTO the Thursday and Friday before)

God damn MD on the project keeps saying he wants the numbers 80/20, but he really wants them 100%.
Best date spots in Chicago?
Total market cap was $179b last month, and dropped to $97b less than two weeks ago. It's at $142b now. No new facts, no new insights...just wanted to point out how insanely volatile this sector is.
Anyone else find themselves ironically writing long reports about how people prefer short commercials?
What percentage of your monthly income goes to rent? Thinking of moving into my dream house for my mental health, even though it’s almost double my current rent.
What are the reasons you have fired someone?
People who’ve gone from tech consulting to strategy, do you feel more ownership over your work? I’m in tech and I feel like all I do is corral the people who actually own the work (e.g. devs)
Managers, how have you successfully managed genZ college grads and how do they differ from the late 20s/30s cohort? I am inheriting many younger directs after previously managing more experienced
Sad that this happened in the bay area... ridiculous that she's a head of HR.
Well, this is all a bit awkward. Faking being a cowboy and an accent, with the benchmark being a former run for office event where his wife had to address assault allegations and 911 calls she made. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/03/28/dan-rodimer-texas-accent-ad/
Interested in buying a place in Plano/Frisco. If I have to rely on a VA loan, am I better off waiting a few months to see if the market cools down? I’ve read people are winning offers by paying over the asking price with cash and the requirements of the VA loan might put me at a disadvantage (inspections mostly).
Does BCG employee get personal phone plan discounts (ATT, Verizon etc)? (some big four definitely does) Starting with BCG in the new year but there are holiday phone plan deals that looks really good. Not sure if I should wait till I start?
