Sr product manager. 5 years of prod and 12 years of prod marketing experience. Base 170k + 15% bonus. What is interesting is I know for sure others with less experience and same title make the same. So new colleague with 8 years of general (no prod) experience was hired with same salary! Makes me happy for her and a bit wtf for me…. I will ask for 195-205 base on next move outside company. Does that seem realistic? I want it/think it’s fair. Also want RSUs and bigger bonus. ATT is nice but not the highest payer!!

Just accepted a position for senior software engineer, $125K.

Ok well I don't know what that has to do with your nationality, but in case you're new to the internet, you can find average salaries by checking the bureau of labor statistics and hyped up salaries by asking people on LinkedIn or fishbowl to share their salaries. The tl;dr is that $88K is widely considered fair pay for an entry developer and "associate" isn't a demeaning title.

like

Having a title is like sitting in a box, and we're having these discussions like "what's the box worth?" But there are people in the boxes doing the bare minimum or going above and beyond, and they're not always paid accordingly.

Happens at my company too. You’re better off leaving and coming back if you want to get bump in pay. The promotion route is not great and what new hires get in pay vs tenured folks. It’s sad. #commonproblem

Hard to enter into project management, some places have a college program and that’s where I started. You’d probably want to try to get a CAPM and network to make a lateral move. It’s a great career that helps develops your brand and people skills. Challenging, but very rewarding.

Is Amazon’s hiring a joke? I did an interview just to break the ice for real interviews. First of all they put out an assessment which had a bunch of typos in the questions. Then the interview was a bunch of questions that were unrelated to the position. I am not going to study for an interview at a company that barely gives 10 days PTO to a new hire.

I'm making a bit of a career pivot, and I just accepted a job at a cybersecurity company for an entry-level SDR position.

I have spoken to quite a few people (women and men) in the field about how there are so few women in cybersecurity. As a woman, I am wondering if this might affect how I am perceived (conscious or subconscious bias) and thus my outcomes.
I am pretty confident and know how to be appropriately assertive, but other than that I am wondering if anyone has thoughts or advice.

Would you tell your boss you’re looking for a new job?

My boss in the past has mentioned he would like employees to let him know. I am currently starting to look and interview. If I told him, it would be under the reason of the difference in timezone (which is partially true, most of my team is in Europe and I’m on PT). I tend to think letting a boss know is a bad idea, but interested in hearing from others.
