Hello, I am hoping to find some information about franchising:
1. Any good and reliable educational resources? (Some "reputable" resources seem to provide wrong info if my research is right, e.g., UPS stores - many owners seem to say it is rather risky, but ranked high by some entrpreneurship sources)
2. Thoughts on profitable franchises based on low risk appetite and 400k'ish investment.
3. Are franchising consultants on LinkedIn of any help?
4. Real experiences?
Thanks a ton for any advice.

6 wks pto and 2wks sick time.
I guess I should have finished my PhD.. I’m jealous
3 weeks.
Most professionals negotiate for more.
My company also gives 3 weeks but would not negotiate on PTO.
We get 15 days, accruing 1.25 days monthly. We can carry over 4 days into the next year.

Google, I heard that argument too but have yet to find someone at EY that has taken any less PTO than they did before 🤷🏼♂️
Taking away vacation payouts upon leaving was a dirty trick, but some states still force EY to pay it so it’s really best of both worlds in those cases.
I also wasn’t someone who never took vacation and planned on leaving. I’ve got a family and vacation time is important to me so I always ended the year with zero hours, because what’s the point of vacation if I can’t take it? So yes, I’m biased because I didn’t lose any accrued vacation but don’t believe all the hype, people are taking MORE vacation now at EY.
22 days. Can carry over 5 but they have to be used by 3/31 of the following year.
Officially, accruing 2 days per month worked, and only being able to use them after 6 months. In practice, most companies are flexible as long as you use good judgement.
My company has unlimited PTO (with statutory minimums) anyway.
15 days vacation, 5 sick, 5 personal. Can carry over 5 vacation but have to use it by 3/31
6 weeks I think when it’s all added up. Tech in-house.
Also have 4 months of baby leave next year to look forward to, but shhhh they don’t know yet.

Roughly 23 days, can carry up to 15 to the next year
20 days (pto & sick), can carry over into following year, max 40 days then it'll stop accruing
23 days
The company offered 4 weeks + unlimited wellness days. I negotiated the 4 weeks up to 6.
4 weeks was standard for those coming in at VP level. Below that was 3 weeks.
Unlimited PTO.
It was two weeks. It was changed this year to unlimited.
28 days pto plus holidays, mandatory 2-week vacation each year.
15 days plus 4 floating holidays. I also have to work one Saturday a quarter, and the Company gives us that day back we can take at any time. Therefore, roughly 23 days (plus holidays) in total.
We’re unlimited which in practice nets out to 4-5 weeks for most employees
I’m at marcum and I think our first years supervisor and below get 23 days. After 5 years or making manager you get 28 days.
25 days vacation, 7 sick, 2 volunteer days, 1 wellness day. Vacation accrues, others are automatic
Has anyone negotiated (or known of others who negotiated) PTO when the company has that “accrue x hours per pay period for a total of x days per year” that increases with tenure? For tech I think 15 days is low and out of date.

Yes. It all depends on the company if they’ll grant it. Doesn’t hurt to try.
