When a new employer runs a background check, can they tell whether or not you were freelance or full-time at past gigs?

No. That background check is shenanigans. There is no database or even real employment screening. Half these HR people can’t even use Gmail.

I don't think so, background checks are like if you've been to jail/convicted

So you can just claim to have been freelance?

The best they can do is check your references and make sure you aren’t a convicted felon/sex offender. Most places can barely do that lol. The background check is largely shenanigans.

Legally they can only ask if you were employed on the given dates
