My intern is sleeping in the job...
Does anyone at Rutgers know where I can find a flexible part-time job for students on campus? I only found two campus positions on handshake and haven’t heard back from either yet. I feel like there has to be a lot more out there than what I’ve seen on handshake
Something similar to the digital classroom support specialist or tech help desk would be great. I consider myself tech savvy

Idk he may be busy watching YouTube videos or something. Try to be considerate of their time lol.
I hate this kind of thinking. You want interns and staff to be honest and tell you when they are overwhelmed or have too much on their plate or at that moment busy with a task another senior/manager gave them, but the minute they do, it is all "how dare he/she" they will regret that later. Then people wonder why as staff no one ever wants to say anything. It is because you have been training them since interns to just shut up and do the work even if it is shitty.
I suggest that before you go off on the intern, first check to see what is keeping them busy. If it is legit that they are working on something work related that has an earlier deadline than yours then you have to cut them some slack. If they are goofing off then yes rip him/her a new one. Just check first.
Lol. Ballsy intern. Guess they don't want a job offer
The issue is not that the intern was too busy. That may be true, but there are other ways to say this. Instead of saying "I'm too busy" he/she could have said, I am working on X for this person. Is this something urgent or can it wait until I am finished".
@BDO1 How do you do a shitty job running a depreciation schedule out of a fixed asset software?
At least they are honest instead of saying yes and doing a shitty job or not completing it...
@EY2 completely agree with you. I am an intern and I am always honest when I can't do something. Doesn't mean I don't want to do it or that I don't want the job, just means I committed to another task and would like to finish that first.
Some people will always find things to bitch about
Yes. Being an intern is all about having positive attitude. And that does not translate to "no im busy". You know most interns do shitty work. But their attitude is above all, it's what paid them 27$ an hour. Not their rollforwarding py workpaper or highlighting cells yellow.
World needs ditch diggers too
Or OP could have said.. hey.. i have a project, are you working on something right now? Courtesy goes both ways. Don't assume that because they are your staff/intern you can just dump work on them as if they are not working on anything else.
