When an urgent job listing specifies “Background check needed? No” what does that actually mean? Are they not checking your previous employers?

Lots of small employers can’t afford time or money to run background check. If the interviewer can ask good questions and corroborate the references , they reduce hiring risk that way.

The bare minimum is a standard criminal check (which still can miss a lot of things: ie IP theft). They won’t run the rest of the gamut like motor vehicle, education/license verification, credit report, OFAC/terrorist, SSN trace, address trace, employer history verification, drug test. My sister has been paralegal for several law firms and she has never had background check. I’ve had thorough background done at major employers but also just only criminal check at a small employer.

They are going to check if you have a criminal record.

Is anyone else awaiting their offer letter due to a technical glitch? HR just called me and said that they are facing some technical issues and that's why they're having a delay in releasing the offer? Has this happened with anyone else?

I currently work in Tech Consulting on the software implementation side with 2 YOE. I don’t see myself long term in this area and am interested in pivoting to strategy and potentially business school along the way. Does anyone have advice for the best way to prepare and land a role for someone who doesn’t have a strong strategy background?

Have been hired, signed all documents and payroll information. Is it respectful/okay to ask counter signed documents?

Random, but valid/persistent thought.

After 2 years of a pandemic and working independently for many years, I am not feeling interviews AT ALL. There are points in the interview where I want to just say "Look! Either hire me or don't".

How can I get over this feeling? I'm over the whole "stand in the line of fire to prove how good I am" bs. Any recommendations for getting over this or possible industries to pivot into to avoid bs interview processes and ghosting?

Interviewing with EY FAAS for a manager role and would appreciate any insight on what will be asked or how to prepare. This will be my first interview since college so feeling a bit nervous and unprepared

I got a job offer for what seems to be a great company but I’m not sure if I would have the same life balance. I started interviewing as a way to see my worth in the industry. My current role is at a small company, and I’m not sure how I could grow within the role because Im not advancing my skill, I just do the same thing every day at a lower level. I like my current role because it’s flexible and I’m paid well for not doing very much work. Should I switch to a more rigorous job?

Can anyone here familiar with FDM Group shed more light on their contracts and operations? All I know about them is that their pay is grossly under market value even as a junior developer in training. Also you are locked into a 2 year contract in which you have to pay them should you leave for a higher paying job for example.

Does this group also have a non-compete which prevents you from working a second job should you need more money?

I'm coming to the end of a contract term and being converted to FTE.

The offer was presented to me by the hiring manager and not HR/Recruiter. To me it is a lower base salary offer than expected, so I asked for info on the total compensation package (base, benefits, bonus, stock/rsu, etc.), which I was told about when they took me on under the contract with the intention to convert.

Hiring manager sends me an email with only standard benefits, no bonus, etc. Are these red flags?

Is it weird for a candidate to have a calendly?

I’m going nuts trying to send recruiters times I’m available while managing my current job/calendar

Say you went through several interview rounds and were told you were the runner up because the successful candidate had a slight edge over you. Then you see the exact posting a week later. I’m guessing the successful candidate must have gotten a better offer elsewhere. If the company called you back and offered you the job this time, would you take it?

Hello everyone.
I’m having my final interview with Microsoft for Software Development Engineer (Dynamics 365) role, 4 hours 4 interviewers, and I’d like to ask for any hints concerning the preparation. Except cracking the code, system design, scalability, high availability etc etc, are there any key concept you would advise for extra prep ?

Has anyone ever received a physical offer letter mailed to them? I received a verbal offer and the Hiring Manager requested my address to mail the offer letter to me. I've never encountered this before but its a pretty legit company.

Hey guys I'm currently making a $40k salary but looking for more . I kind of suck at interviews and I'm glad this job gave me a chance 4 months. Ago any tips on interviews even the ones over the phone. Especially why are you looking to leave your employer.

Hi all, anyone want to share their tips on how to answer the question about your salary expectations? I used to give a range but wondering if there is a better way of answering that while not giving any number directly.
