The layoffs must have pissed some people off.
HCB layoffs on the horizon
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Yeah, they do, but they also don’t have the most intelligent people at the helm
Sorry to dissapoint but many shops are still hiring so i dont think it is happening anytime soom. Can someone in TAS during the 2008 meltdown comment whether there were fdd layoffs? I think covid was different but i was not in tas to know about previous recessions.

Agreed, performance related layoffs when recession and slowing deal demand happens.
Otherwise, take it in. Even if Apple/Microsoft or any large PE firm makes $0 for a year in a recession they will stay afloat for years on their cash piles not likely for them to go bankrupt or spend their hundreds of billions of $$ in cash. Prime opportunity to buy stuff at low prices. It’s possible, but compared to 2008, it’s gonna take a lot more than just slowing demand to wipe out everything. If that happens, money printing happens again and boom M&A everywhere.
Yall know that in a downturn TAS peeps will just be resourced on RX jobs right?

are people spending a lot of time on the bench? I don't know about nationally, but in my region we're still very busy. only people spending time on bench are brand new
I just switched firms and my utilization is in the 40% range. Deals seem more likely to die or not move forward these days. Kinda regretting switching firms since I’m sure they will do Last in, First Out if layoffs come
I think my group massively over-hired

Did you come from FDD and switch firms? Because I’m at pwc FDD right now and we are cranking deals
My utilization right now is 95% that’s crazy..
