10/12 Thread (General):
I recently received an offer from Microsoft for a Program manager internship. I just found out that it wasn't at the location (local) i intended it to be and I have to relocate to Seattle. This really doesn't work out for my logistically and I was wondering if its possible to somehow switch it to a remote position. Please let me know if anyone has been in this situation before id greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I believe this should be a firm-specific question...but correct...anytime I’m there and meals are provided at the Q, then you cannot claim per diem except for the travel days.
If you uncheck all meals, there are still a small dollar amount that’s allowable for incidentals - but I don’t think you’re allowed to claim any per diem if you are there for training. If you’re there for something like a practice group meeting you might be able to get away with it.
I’m pretty sure you do charge per diem. Claim meals for travel and uncheck the boxes for days at the Q Center where meals are provided. You should still get the small sum for incidentals
Q Center is catered so I would reason to guess that you don’t get a per diem
The q center still exists?? 14 years goes fast.
I did the first. You’re technically traveling
You cannot claim any per diem
You can charge per diem for meals in transit
