When companies do background checks on you for industry roles or partner promotions, do they check the spouses as well? Basically can spouses wrongdoing hurt you in any way?

Shoot what did your spouse do that had you so worried?

Are you married to Roger Stone?!

Spouse background was not check when I went through.

You sign a consent form for a background check so I would think if they asked for spouse information they would be checking. Didn’t check my spouse for my role.

How do you get better at handling discovery? I don’t mean drafting requests or responses or staying on top of deadlines. I mean handling all the little meet and confer disputes over narrowing scope, knowing what to push back on, knowing what to and what not to agree to in a protective order. I feel like I’m awful at it and I feel incompetent for asking so many questions about what’s okay, what we can agree to, etc. I’m fairly new and have been tasked with a lot of this lately. I feel lost.

I’m a nurse of 9 years looking to break into health informatics. I’ve held roles at the bedside, nurse leadership, and quality improvement. I have a MHA with a specialization in Informatics but the program didn’t have a practicum. I can’t sit for my Nursing Informatics certification because I don’t have hands on hours. I’ve applied to informatics jobs but no luck. Any advice on how to get an informatics position or at least hands on experience?

I work with a staff who needs a lot of handholding and coaching. I’ve worked with many staff by now (probably over 20 at this point) and they’re the highest maintenance. Every time I answer a question it just generates more questions to the point where I’m shocked if they don’t have questions. At this point, they’re over budget and behind schedule on everything compared to the other staff who has a year less of exp and has been getting through his work with less coaching.

Why do accounting firms use a pip vs just firing people? I saw so many people get terminated in 2020 who had no pip or warning. Why give a pip to one and fire another? Is it possible to get off of a pip and is it a mark on you for the rest of your career? I heard it’s a way for the firm to cover their ass. But don’t get why people got let go of without pips?
