That feel when when you've got exit options
I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

After I actually started doing work
I never really saw the appeal of traveling, points, fancy dinners etc. I'm a routine oriented person so the act of being away from home and not really owning your schedule is a turnoff for me.
Knew right away when I met people who interviewed me. But as someone who needed an employer to sponsor my visa, I din't have many options.
It’s what kept me in the game for 3 years and then I realized it was smoke and mirrors
Why would anyone think of this job as being “glamorous”?
I’m out of here in 8 months. I can’t stand this anymore
When I came to do consulting in the US (it was more baller in the Middle East)
I earn more than my parents combined right out of school... so 2 years and counting, probably will feel glam for just 20 more...
After I hit my goal of platinum elite on American, loved it and finally then got bored of the business class perks. Miss it a bit now tbh.
When i had to do west coast to east coast for 8 months (that entailed traveling on Sunday and getting back home late thu night because of the ~6 hr flight duration). Going without speaking to my husband (on the phone) for 3 days straight was a norm because I just wouldn’t have the energy at night. Some say that traveling is awesome for relationship building because when you’re with them on the weekends, the time is cherished and you’re “all there”. It’s true but not when you’re so drained out even on the weekends that you’d rather be a hermit, not to forget that there are unsaid issues to be resolved because of all the lack of communication
Traveling to a client site 1.5 hours outside of Rochester NY, late flight, snow on the roads, pitch black. The fanciest hotel in the area was Red Roof Inn. The next day, the client was late. Only had half an hour to meet with me.
As I was driving back to the airport I was questioning my life's choices.
To be fair for every one of those, I do have ten other projects with pretty high-rolling lifestyle
When I came into the firm and was immediately benched for 2.5 months.
You mean, when you got paid for 2.5 months for doing nothing. People got bench time to wrong way: bench is the best!
