Applying is the easy part! If you’re invited to interview, then you definitely have the experience they’re looking for - don’t be afraid to own that.

The market matters because title equivalency isn't guaranteed. I felt confident in the AD role when I was the one everyone came to for advice, leadership and growth opportunities & turns out, leadership agreed with me. That being said, I would be worth a VP GAD role if I were in NYC, but I'm in a small market. I had been working in this industry for twelve years when I got promoted, if that helps.
Know your skills and look for that role. You can make a stronger case that way, but don't be afraid of it based on the title alone.
Many agencies also expect their ADs and above to customize the role based on the individual client needs, which may be why you're seeing a lot of copy paste. The leadership it takes to be able to craft a portfolio and lead it is probably the most distinctive skill to make sure you have.
