I generally take a few weeks off around Christmas - this year I'm planning on being off from December 21st straight through to January 5th. We're not traveling anywhere, nor do we have any visitors coming. It's just time as a family to recharge and enjoy each other, to introspect, to think about goals for the next year, and so on.
I find the period between Christmas and NYE is a good time to get some of the back-burner stuff done because there's no one else around.
I usually use my floating holidays for that week in between because I forgot to use them during the rest of the year
It’s up to you. I always take the week off at the minimum.
If you do decide to work those times, from my experience it's a great time to get a lot of work done with no distractions.
I use to take the time off but in the past 3 years I have not. I get all my training done the week between xmas and new years...It helps me out in the long run...and I basically get caught up
I usually take off the week before and when I come back there is nobody there so nothing to do anyway lol
Rising Star
I usually try to take off a few days before Xmas and then the whole week between. I've found that most US companies more or less shut down for the last 10 days of the year, with so few people working it is hard to get anything done.
