I highly recommend waiting until after your 20 week anatomy scan 💕 by law you don’t have to disclose until 30 days prior (in the US)

I was going to wait until I was showing but had to tell around 10 weeks because I fainted at the doctor and needed to bail on some meetings. Told the rest of my team last week at 18 weeks because bump is loud and proud!
Depends. I told mine on week 6. I felt my performance was lower than usual because of how exhausted I was from all the meds (IVF), and felt I needed to let her know. She was superbly supportive and told me to make sure to block time off during the day to rest and not take on any additional work. She told me if I ever need support saying no to work or plus ones that I should let her know. My health and my pregnancy is more important than work. It worked out very well in my favor.
Have not outright told my team I'm pregnant, but was very open with them about the IVF process. We've had some traveling that I've had to miss, due to appointments.
They've been extremely supportive and I'll probably tell them around 13-14 weeks. Right now we're in the awkward, they know I did IVF / don't want to ask how it went / suspect I'm pregnant phase :)
It depends on your personal situation. Ive heard of people disclosing in first trimester due to 1) lot of morning sickness and needing to communicate that you’ll need some accommodations during that time period, 2) if you’re just really close with your manager and feel comfortable sharing. But I think most people wait until second trimester. Legally I think you’re only required to give a few weeks notice for leave but I wouldn’t recommend giving such short notice
Thank you for your responses so far. I am in week 13 (after an exhausting IVF journey - not covered by my company’s benefit plan…). I am still suffering from severe nausea, but luckily I am working from home and can “hide” my suffering. I am conscious about telling my manager because I am concerned that it may impact my bonus and annual increase (which will be locked in the system only at the end of Jan). I have a great relationship with my manager, but still question once she knows that I am pregnant, if unconscious bias will kick in and impact my compensation.
I think you have good reason to be concerned that you might be penalized (or more accurately, discriminated against) once you disclose. I would wait til I got my bonus and increase.
I honestly don’t think it would impact that at all. But if you feel you can wait, then wait. It’s no big deal.
But I do think that the fear of it impacting your bonus and raise is silly. People in our practice even got promoted while out on maternity leave.
