Wdym? Traders at quant trading firms make 350k+ out of undergrad, so ofc they’ll be making 400k plus a few years out (if they didn’t get cut)
And stock appreciation has been crazy recently so TC has been sky high in tech
Yeah for sure. As an example, Google stock has approx 2xed over the last 2 years. So comp has been very high across the board in the past few years, but of course this growth isn’t guarenteed going forward
ur never gonna catch up to ur quant trading friends, so forget that lol
EY: Partners don’t necessarily have social skills. SWEs don’t necessarily lack social skills. That’s a huge generalisation you did over there.
Making partner is about staying put in the firm and playing the game right. During my time in consulting, I have seen the most empathetic, indifferent, and toxic partners. All of them bring good business because they know how to play the game, regardless of their social skills.
You dont need to compete with your friends on who makes the most…
You’ll never be happy with this mindset
Mate, chill out a bit. And remember, comparison kills the chill.
People at L5 making 400k+? That’s even a rarity at Google.
G2, at least you’re beating my 215 TC (not including 60k signing) as an L4 PM equivalent at a non-FAANG :( they really lowball PMs coming from MBAs
It also won’t until you finish your 2-yr associate program or if you’re at APO. Generally VP+ you’ll be ahead if you’re thinking about it from a competitive standpoint (which I don’t recommend)
At VP would probably expect 500k or so

Anecdotal but my friends around the same age as me who work for hedge funds, top I banking firms or top VC’s make 25-200% more than me.
I prefer my job, but wouldn’t mind an additional 40%~ so there is a trade off.
I could see this shifting… tech becoming the new banking/finance. Especially with direct listings being more common. But Wall Street and VC’s seem to still make more right now. Curious to hear other perspectives.
Depends but maybe VP? I’ll make ~400 (all cash) as an associate 2 this year

Oops. I meant the other way around. Consulting is $100k-$200k less than banking
You don't

In the top end, pretty sure consulting and finance pays more

They catch up around one level below partner for strategy consulting.
