I just got laid off from a strategy consulting boutique in the UK that primarily works with PE funds doing CDD/VDD. It goes without saying that the market is terrible. I suspect no strategy firms are hiring and it will need to be an in-house move or if I could stretch it PE/VC. What are people’s thoughts and does anyone have any advice?
Accenture Strategy layoffs? .....👀
Is it a bad idea to get a new job this period? My firm is not talking about layoffs at the moment. Has anybody moved from their somewhat secure job?
Risk of getting fired as a new experienced hire in HC with solid 3 ratings and tons of impactful PRD, but on the bench for too long?
Was lucky to get a job shortly after being laid off. Work’s not hard but feeling burned out cause of bad process, meaningless jobs on top of the pointlessness of everything happening. How you coping?
Leaving the firm for grad school in a month. Trying to get a severance package but recently got a new career counselor. Do I tell her I'm going to grad school in a month? Or keep my mouth shut until I
Any H1b had a leased car and had to leave country due to Visa rejection or layoff? How did you manage the lease termination? Did you pay the remaining lease with penalty or did the dealer do any concessions?
When your previous mid-sized agency posts a blackout picture and message renouncing racism... but while you worked there they spontaneously fired the ONLY Black person employed there due to sudden “performance issues”. The bandwagon is packed to full capacity today. 💅
If you're on a PiP, is it better to quit just before the end stage, when you get fired, or better to get fired and collect unemployment, but also have a company-based termination on your record
Working from home since march 2020, got promoted December, department had a major reorg couple of months back, responsibilities increased, work increased, hours increased. I just don't feel sleepy anymore, brain is always fired up with work, writing emails in my head in the bedroom post lights out. Anyone else with me?
Does anyone else feel like their burn-out cycle is shorter? It used to take me about 2 years of grind before I hit a burn-out phase where I needed to do some serious recuperating. It feels like I'm at 3 months now, or even less. I've already spoken to my wife about building quarterly mini-vacations into my schedule just to keep my energy up. And by burn-out, I mean you're at the point that every single ball you are juggling can drop and you get fired and almost see that as a blessing.
Checking in with those who were laid off a few months ago. How are you all doing? Are you having any luck finding open positions?
Just got told by managers that my performance hasn't met their expectations. High performer last year. Am I getting fired?
Made it a year without getting fired, and my reward is google stock vest. What's the best restaurant you've visited in LA in the last year?
KPMG is taking the PWC approach to audit layoffs. Low performers will be separated rather than defining a RIF, but we all know it’s a lay-off by another name.
If you are separated from your firm and you are kept on payroll for an additional month to facilitate payout of severance when does the 60 day grace period count start? Is it on the last day on payrl?
HELP! Recently promoted M1, and a very low-performing staff is threatening to go to HR with harassment allegations as a means to protect herself from getting fired. Suggestions?
Hi fellow EA fish 🐟🐠🐡 I’m hoping to make comp comparisons between MBB and the Big 4 since Glassdoor and other websites aren’t that accurate. Please feel free to DM!
Let me know any openings for a Regulatory reporting or Financial reporting profile. I am a Chartered Accountant by profession having 6 years of experience.
SO and I moved into a loft style apartment where the walls only go up about 80% of the way (there’s 2 ft gap between the wall and ceiling) this has made co working from home a nightmare, even getting a plate from the kitchen is perfectly audible from the bedroom. The place is awesome otherwise - any creative solutions from other fish in similar situations? Considering this a life lesson…
Are industry exit opportunities at the SM level much better than at the M level? Tired of the consulting lifestyle but only 1-2 yrs away from making SM most likely. Worthwhile to stay a bit longer?
Need some advice. Currently 1st year M at 125 base. Got an offer at a small boutique strategy firm for 160base 15-20% yearly bonus. No brainer? Or is it better to stay at ACN or go to another big consulting/tech firm?
Anyone have any insight on the culture/personality differences between the Northeast and SoCal?
Move-up Anyone seen or know anyone that traded-up from one MBB to another MBB? Eg. A BCG PL hired as Principal at Bain; a Principal at Bain hired as Partner at McK; a consultant at McK hired a M etc
I am most likely quitting within the next 2 months. Feel like I’m planning to leave at an important point in my project’s lifecycle. I’m only 1 year in. Have a backfill in mind. Am I overthinking?

I've been working towards a T10 mba since before I graduated from undergrad. Hustled at work to get early promotions and the best projects. This allowed me to go from $60k to $115k TC at 1 YOE. Founded a student org at my UG serving URM and stayed involved after graduating, personally mentoring close to 100 students over 4 years since graduating, and the org itself serving around 2000 URM since its inception. 169V 160Q on the GRE Dinged with no interview at HSW Kellogg Booth last R1 (cont)
Any Latinos feeling left out of all this diversity buzz? Seems we are always invisible :/
Has anyone been denied H1B after receiving a RFE? I just received one and uscis basically wants to know how my job is related to my education.
Anyone else historically a star performer and being told their performance is subpar since COVID? Not sure if it’s the additional stress/ distractions at home with a 10 mo old, wfh burnout/lack of motivation or what, but most importantly, wondering how to get past it and bounce back?
Female 🐠 that have divorced. Were you able to recover, especially financially? Looking back would you stick it out? I would primarily be supporting our child since I earn more. Just overwhelmed with the prospect of starting over/carrying everything on my own but the lure of peace/relief/happiness is intense.
At a B4 now. I want to stay in consulting. Should I be considering any other firms besides MBB and T2?
How to prepare for Brand Management / Product Management / Category Head types of roles in FMCG and FMCD? I appeared for a few such interviews in FMCD firms and haven't yet managed to crack them. Trying to figure out what exactly can be done to prepare from an interview speaking point of view.
