When doing anything finance related, I overlook basic details and my numbers end up being a mess. Is there a course I can take or a book I can read to get better at my agency financial literacy?

I don’t have a recommendation, unfortunately, I but wanted to give you a virtual high five for your self-awareness and initiative!

What do you mean by overlook basic details? What is specifically confusing you or throwing you off? Here to help 💕

What kind of numbers? Top line revenue, margins, burn or forecasts? The first three are probably improved upon by taking business math or accounting classes. Whereas the latter is a mix of art and science, but also probably online learning somewhere. If I find any I’ll post here.

My understanding is thin, which leads to the issue. My last agency did that too, so I’m starting late.

Also reach out to your finance team member before you present. Walk them through the numbers so they are airtight.

My favorite “teach myself finance” book is HBR’s How Finance Works by Mihir Desai. For more in depth things I like Udemy or Coursera :) Hope that helps!

Thank you! That’s a great tip, I ordered the book.

AMA used to have an agency financial management course. Failing that, seek out a mentor. Most senior account folks really want to help develop skills of talent on the team.

Thank you! I’ll look into that!

I have two offers in hand. KPMG and Deloitte. CTC is almost same whereas variable is more in KPMG. I am inclined towards Deloitte India. But HR in KPMG told me that I won't be able to join KPMG India in future as I accepted their offer. I informed her within 2 weeks and didn't do anything for onboarding. I didn't ask to increase the amount or JB and I strongly believe I informed early so they can look for other candidates. Is this bluff? Any HR here to clarify

DE&I is now a core leadership competency. If you are managing diverse talent, it’s important to understand what the term “privilege” means within a DE&I context so you can lead your team to higher levels of inclusivity+develop optimal strategies for solutioning around team issues/challenges. Everyone has some aspect of privilege depending upon the context. Privilege means the absence of obstacles/barriers, not necessarily the presence of perks. Though some would say *that* itself is a perk.

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
