When filling in online job applications, most auto fill tools don’t correctly load data from the resume. Do you actually go in and correct the information or leave it as it’s all on the resume anyway?

Always fix it. It shows you pay attention to details. Paying attention to details means you don’t hardly make mistakes.

like

Most applicant tracking systems you can hit delete and it will delete the work experiences. I just do that. Recruiters barely look at those details. All they care about is the resume.

WWHAAAATT???? OMG, if this is true, I can save so much time in future applications since I have been correcting it all...

When any employer uses Workday I just sigh….as it never imports my resume. In these cases I will choose the import from LinkedIn which gets much closer, then I adjust a few of the details from there.

like

Sometimes it depends on if your resume is in pdf or word doc format when uploading to a application site. I am all about the details, so I would make sure it uploaded perfectly or fix it manually. Just to be safe!

I’ll fix company names and dates, but not descriptions. Personally, I’m not spending 15 minutes on each site fixing their crappy import tools on something they aren’t even going to look at. Always gotten call backs for interviews with no issue.

I’ve never seen anyone pull up their intranet site to pull my qualifications during an interview. They always have a copy of my resume in hand or on their screen.

It probably doesn’t matter either way, but if you are in doubt, it doesn’t hurt to fill out properly. Good luck . 😁

And they could. I get call backs on a lot of the ones I don’t fix or delete altogether, so I don’t think it plays a big factor. However, it never hurts to fill out the forms properly. I just can’t make myself do double work. 😁

I never review that part. I only care about any questions answered and the resume. Keep that resume sharp, leave those boxes blank, and you’ll be golden. Good luck!

I posted one recently and did not fix the data load and now regretting it

But why ? Does it matter ?

I’m job hunting and having fairly decent success so far. Made it to the final round for two jobs but lost both. How would you expect to be rejected by a company if you went through 4 interview rounds (for a total of 2-2.5 hours) and met with 5 different people? Phone call? Generic copy and paste rejection email? Email with details and reasoning why? I’ve gotten several rejections after making it this far in an interview process but the latest one just rubbed me the wrong way. No reason for rejection, no personalized message, they didn’t even say they went with another candidate who is a better choice lol

Background story - I interviewed with a company that I really want to work for for a role that I was a perfect fit for. I went through 5 rounds of interviews then was told that they ended up going with an internal referral however the entire team loved me so much and they're looking for other roles for me. I thanked them for their time and didn't really take their word but 2 weeks later I get contacted again for another opportunity on a different team. (Cont'd in comment)
