Generally it’ll go to HR where all they will say is “I can confirm they worked here between these dates” if the firm doesn’t want to create any potential liabilities. Or at least that’s what every employer I’ve had so far does.

Ok got it. Yeah I wanted to know who they’d get feedback from because I’ve had good projects but also not so good projects so wondering if a bad project will ruin my chances at future employment…

Usually you write down your references. Unless the job is much more senior

That’s what I thought. Thanks!

The ones that don’t work for the company anymore.

What? 😳

They’ll contact HR just to verify dates of employment and also could do reference checks with whichever names you provide them.

I’ve been given the choice of a mid year promotion or market salary adjustment (MSA) this July. If I decide to go through with the MSA then the promotion will happen this December. My career manager is suggesting I go for the MSA since the total salary increase will be larger in the long run. Would it be a better career move to take the mid-year promotion or the 💰?
