Let's not start using "Uncle Anderson." We're not Deloitte. This doesn't need to be a thing. #politelyyetfirmly

I feel like getting this off my chest: In February 2020, I started my new job at a consulting firm, and I was assigned to a client. On the second day of being at the client site, I had a big lunch and had the “itis.” I accidentally dosed off at my desk and the employees of the client site noticed it and apparently they told the higher ups at my consulting firm. As a result, I was rolled off and placed on the bench and eventually I was laid off from my job. To this day, I am still unemployed. 😞😞😞

Have been recently engaged in few pursuits and observing that apart from traditional competitors like Deloitte etc, very small players and witch companies competing as well. This work had substantial element of IT installation as well. To my surprise client was even entertaining such companies to participate in RFP. Are we observing this trend in general in consulting? I mean a 300 seater competing against EY? This also is putting unrealistic expectations on margins as well. Thoughts?

I freelance PM for a small firm, 2 male owners, all else are ICs. When managing certain campaigns I am the ONLY one from my team doing the bulk of the work. My agency’s profit margins are ridiculous. Example, they’ll charge a small firm $10k for a project that costs them $3k. I, who will have managed the entire project, might pocket up to $1k. The owners, who do nothing, pocket $6k. Yet when I ask for a raise, it’s a big issue. I love the work, but I am clearly underpaid and valued. Need advise!

I recently left 10 years of agency (a mix of PR and ad, 5 years at my last shop) for a director role client side. I left agency because I was sick of the clients I didn’t care about, and if I’m being honest, the grind that’s always glamorized. The client side role was my dream company (so I thought), and it has turned out to be the most unbelievably boring move I’ve ever made. The culture is brutal, the pace dead slow. I’ve been there 8 months and feeling so lost. Any perspective or advice?
