The current administration has banned critical race theory-based diversity training across federal agencies claiming education around white privilege is anti-American. As someone who is dedicated to anti-racism work, I believe these conversations on the pervasiveness of systemic racism are necessary in order to dismantle the broken system and are central to our work as HR professionals. I fear what precedent this ban will set. Thoughts from other HR pros? https://www.forbes.com/sites/janicegassam/2020/09/05/trump-bans-diversity-training-claiming-its-divisive-anti-american-propaganda/
NYC vs Chicago - considering moving out of NYC (obvious reasons :-)), though we love the city and like diversity and energy for our kids to grow up (no suburbs). Any thoughts/experience on Chicago?
Damn, Trump just told our firm to stop diversity trainings or give up those federal contracts. Dude is straight evil.
One of my bosses doesn’t shut up about freaking diversity (which is extended annoying). So since I’m the only latino on the team, I’m going to use that on ms.weallbelong to get promoted.
What are the drawbacks of filing a second I485? For context I’m ROW and filed an EB I485 in May last year (Texas service center so still waiting). I am now eligible to file I485 under the diversity lottery program, that would be faster and no need to stay with my employer after GC
Diversity Pattern I keep noticing: pitch decks/campaigns. Half of the photos are of white people.. and the other half are black. No indian, hispanic, muslim & asian representation. It feels incredibly unbalanced. 🧐
Genuine question and attempt to understand: for those of you who are upset or unhappy about more robust efforts at diversity and inclusivity, can you explain why these efforts upset you? Or worry you?
Would you confront a senior leader on inappropriate behaviour yourself (remarks about gender and race) or would prefer your coach to do that? What would be the merits / consideration that you should factor in?
Currently in a play on ATOS that might be interesting for some. It’s a biotech with its primary drug being endoxifen aimed at treatment for breast cancer. Company has no debt and $138M in cash. It’s been announced to be included in the Russell 2K so there will be a predictable movement of ETF inclusion close to June 25. It also still has a high short interest so potentially for shorts to be blown out. I’m currently in 25k shares @ 3.35 holding into the 25th. My price target is $20. What is the legal ratio of adults:students in an ECSE inclusion setting? In a reverse mainstream setting? Are Title I PreK classrooms required to have a para and teacher? What is the ratio for that? What is the legal ratio of adults:students in a mixed 4 y/o PreK setting? (#___ SPED+ #___regular=1 teacher and ____paras) Specifically in Louisiana, but curious about other states, as well!
I recently got married and started talking to my sister in law more often. She addresses me as “Bro” EVERY SINGLE TIME. She knows I identify as female. I absolutely hate because it’s a sign of deeply ingrained patriarchy and I also find it disrespectful. I never address anyone as bro, dude, man etc because I honestly find it very disrespectful. I would rather be addressed by my name. How can I handle this situation? We are still forming a reltnship & don’t want to hurt that process. I’m Indian.
My agency puts on a big show about their diversity/inclusions/women’s equality efforts but for the most part its bullshit. The c-suite drinks their own koolaid and don’t even realize it’s all fake.

Is it diversity if you only hire minorities to work on diversity projects that make you, as an agency, look good? Maybe those people just want to work on stupid banner ads like their white coworkers
How do we feel about listening ethnicity in casting specs? Our clients say it’s important to ensure diversity, but is it counterproductive?
General curiosity... On job applications, how many of you fill in the voluntary form regarding race, sex, and gender?
Curious for those seeing a therapist are you seeing a black woman? Do you feel like race and gender doesn’t add to the comfort of opening up in therapy?
At a B4 stressed but managing it. Partner passed me over for a sr manager but treats me like one (constantly managing multiple projects, driving his practice initiatives and driving 1-2 /$300-500k of proposals every month. Boutique is offering me the TC that I won’t make here for 3-4 years - same level, more focused scope. Also talking to a tech firm that will be a slight bump (10-15%) but likely 25% less work/stress. Worried a little bit about career progression. Thoughts?
Are there any agencies in NY or LA that are actively hiring for SAE / AM roles? Any agencies that I should stay away from?
I desperately want to teach JH History, but every job I interviewed for told me no thanks, they only want coaches (two even specified male!!). Super disheartening. Hopefully one day I can do it.
Who's ready for the New England variant? 74% of covid cases in a recent outbreak were among vaccinated people https://whdh.com/news/reports-findings-from-provincetown-covid-19-outbreak-impacted-new-cdc-mask-guidelines/
Even though I’m full-time on a large client, I find myself having lots of free time at work. Is this normal?
Like many of you, my organization is working remotely due to Covid restrictions. We are using GoTo Meeting to conduct our interviews, and I have fallen into the habit of hitting the record button (after getting the applicant’s consent of course). It’s just easier for me to capture notes that way. I was hoping to get some insight as to whether or not this is a sound practice, legally?
Sitting with a college friend who is in KPMG and just bragged that she is enrolled in a pension plan sponsored by KPMG and it is separate than 401K . I doubt this . Can anyone from KPMG confirm?
Just started at another B4, is it too soon to mention to the recruiter I know someone else who’s interested in coming over?

I am the first HR professional at a small company. I am looking for an easy to use platform for performance management. I have used Bamboo and Paylocity in the past. Eventually we will want something that has a payroll component as well. What systems have you used and liked?
Any insight of starting salary for international tax manager (JD/LLM) jumping from another big 4? Southern California specifically. Thank you!!
Anyone move from Big 4 to Grant Thornton? Any major differences? Thinking about switching.
I accepted a new job, they said PTO was “generous.” I find out it’s 19 days a year of PTO (which includes sick days). I have two young children and we like to vacation 1-2x a year (no more than a few days away each time). Am I crazy that this is pretty limited time off? 8 of the normal holidays off during the year (working the week between Christmas and NYE). Thoughts? I dont know if lack of PTO is a good reason to back out, is it?
I get mistaken as a student at the school I work at. How can I establish my authority in the classroom as well as on campus?
