I am currently getting a Master's of Library and Information Sciences, teaches information technology but it doesn't specialize in it. I am interested in working in UX Design. I have a BA in Psychology. Would it be beneficial to get into one of those UX boot camps to create a portfolio or do I just do one and begin to apply for entry UX roles? Thank you 🙏🏼

Didn’t really know where to post this: interviewing for a Operations VP role with Goldman Sachs on Monday. Any tips on some questions I might encounter? Good questions for the interviewer? 30 min interview. Then another on Thursday as well. Location would be in the Salt Lake City office.
Try looking at job descriptions, like Marketing Manager/Director. Does the role and responsibilities described match what you are doing right now? If so, what is the expected salary for these positions? Try to get examples from within your own industry.
I would then use that as basis for discussion with your boss. Be clear you enjoy your job and want to stay, but would like to have compensation and job title in line with your actual responsibilities. Be prepared this negotiation may take time (months).
Hopefully your boss is smart and agrees to give you what you ask. Otherwise, time to update that resume and start networking..
Thank you so much for this advice. This is a great plan and one I can definitely implement. Hopefully I can reach a positive conclusion with my current employer but otherwise yea, time to move on

Yes, it matters for your company research and next job.
Look at the promotion program in the career app I’m building. It’s free.

Definitely NOT being unreasonable here! $54k is a -fine- salary, but not for doing the work of what should be multiple roles. It may be that you have to look elsewhere, but have a frank conversation with your current employer about the need to a) reassess your title and salary and b) hire additional help.
Thank you for your insight. I definitely think after all I’ve read a discussion is necessary
You need to ask for both. They go hand in hand.
That’s what I thought. Thank you
