I feel the same way, but I have found if I just do one thing every day (sweep one day, one load of laundry one day, etc.) it all gets done. The bathroom gets a quick wipe down every night before I shower, so it's pretty much always clean. I do it as soon as I get home too because once I sit down it's a wrap. LOL. If I wait until the weekend it can get pretty overwhelming for me. One little bit at the time. š
Yes I do this too. I put a load of laundry in almost every night. Then my weekends arenāt spent doing laundry
I gave my all and ended up in the hospital. I was strong, determined and loving, but it caught up with me. All the reduce stress articles say ātake time out for you,ā but that time simply didnāt exist for me as a teacher. Was physically and mentally exhausted. I have spent my life stuck in bed still fatigued and trying to restore my brain capabilities. Itās the most frightening thing I have ever gone through. I debated about posting this but decided if it saves even one person it would be worth it. I worked with a super group of dedicated teachers as I am certain all of you are as well. Please take care of yourselves.
Thinks for your kindness! I should have re-worded my post to āspent the last 6 months of my life.ā
Iām a survivor and making progress.
Blessings to you for working hard and caring for your students!
I have developed clutter blindness. I stop and drop all week and then on the weekend I am over whelmed. I feel if the dishes are done then that is half the battle. Also we use a lot of paper plates
Dishes!!! LOL!! Yes! If my dishes are clean then I give myself grace for a lot of the other stuff.
When did teaching become a job that you can no longer take care of your own home and family? Doesn't that seem wrong to anyone else?
So wrong... I am struggling with that myself!
We started paying someone to clean the house every two weeks this year. Saved our marriage and makes me feel less guilty about my home life because so much of my energy has been going to my work life this year.
I'm sure the cost of that varies widely just from city to city, let alone across the country. Mind if I ask how much that runs though?

Here is what my wife and I did a few years ago.
Keep a log for a month of time you spend cleaning around the house. Not things like dishes and regular laundry. Things like floors, bathrooms and linens.
Now you have a list of stuff you need to do that you can consider paying someone else to do.
We called around, and found someone that comes 2x a month and does those things for us.
The time we got back has been priceless, and it's been worth every penny.
Iām with you there! I try to do little things every day like making my bed, putting away my clothes, doing dishes, etc., so that nothing builds up for me to tackle over the weekend. I also got a relatively inexpensive robot vacuum on Amazon that I programmed to vacuum my place daily. Thatās been a godsend and really makes a difference. I guess my approach is to clean as I go throughout the work week and then leave things like laundry for the weekend.
Agree with above teacher. I just pick one area per day. Seems to be easier for me than a big to do on the weekend.
Me too. I feel like I live to work. Not saying I don't like my job, it IS beyond exhausting
I have my teenage kids help out with a lot of things. They clean their own rooms, do their own laundry, clean their own shared bathroom, and clean up after themselves
After making snacks. They help with yard work and vacuuming if asked. It helps so much and teaches them responsibility at the same time!
Pausing the wifi has miraculous results at my house. No chores done? No wifi... they are suddenly eager to help! Hahaha!
I get it. Each day I just do what needs to be done immediately, like washing the dishes, taking out the trash. I leave bigger jobs for the weekend, and even then I canāt get to them. I just try to keep my apartment is clean enough as I can for myself and my dog to keep good health. I used the two weeks of spring break to purge my closet and rest of apartment, I figure if I have less things in the apartment less clothes, thatās less laundry to do and less space that itās taking up. Really challenging. I have to let a lot of things go.ļæ¼
I teach virtually and honestly I am tired and overwhelmed so I leave it for someone else!
I take a nap in my car before shopping on my way home. 45 minute drive and can barely keep my eyes open most days on the way home.
Paying someoneļæ¼ to clean my house once a month. She dusts, wet mops all the floors and cleans the bathrooms. Well worth it. Feel much better about my house. Bad part is I have to declutter before she comesš¤Ŗ
I leave it for the weekend!
Do what you can, the rest will get done when you can. I want to hire someone too, but it isnāt in my budget.
I'm in the same boat. Too exhausted to do anything.
By the time I make dinner, eat dinner, clean dinner dishes, take care of the pets, go for my walk, pack lunch for the next day, and take a shower it's time to go to bed. And I need at least 8 hours of sleep or I'm worthless. So, all cleaning (except dishes, or course) is left for the weekend. I have a small house and a Roomba, so it doesn't take much time for me to clean but I still don't clean the whole house in one weekend because it still seems overwhelming, especially since I lesson-plan and prep on Sunday. I can live with my house not looking perfect. I'm a recovering perfectionist! Lol
Leave it for the weekends...

Also lots of adderall and red bull after nap on the way home.
