Mid-Level here. Giving notice and transitioning matters. Partner is demanding that I take a pro bono matter I have been staffed on to the new firm. Partner says I will be burning bridges, ruining relationships, and violating my ethical obligations if I don’t take “my” client with me. If I think of a number what’s the least number of questions you could ask to be able to correctly determine the number?

I don’t work THAT much (1800h/year is my target), my weeks are usually 10-11 h m-f.

However, I’m still feeling overwhelmed and close to burnout, and I’m quite ashamed of it when other associates hit close to 3000h.

It’s not the hours, it’s the extreme perfectionism and level of detail expected that makes me hyper stressed when working, all the office politics and working for partners responsible for more they can handle and need explaining like kids, but take all the $ at the end of the day 🙄

What billing softwares are objectively better than timeslips?

Does anyone else suffer from chronic procrastination and boredom / inattentiveness? I can focus on any work related task for only 15-30 minutes until i reach for my phone/any other distraction, except when I have an urgent deadline and then I can magically focus for a couple hours at a stretch. Hello. I just came here to announce that I am officially done. Burnt out. I used to be a vibrant kid who wanted to have a fulfilling career and I have dedicated 29 years to that endeavor. But now I am done. I just want to work 9-5 to make enough money to live comfortably. But I don’t want excessive job stress, I don’t care about upward mobility or promotion, and I don’t even need to enjoy the work. I just want to live. I want to make up for all the time I lost. Anyone else feel this way?

Mid level has an assignment for month plus. Asks for some help, which I send on time. Weeks go by. Mid level gives me the assignment last minute, (sort of -says we’ll collaborate and then basically ghosts) and I have to send what is arguably bad work product to the partner bc of time constraints, which arguably should never have been an issue had the ML done their job. When I receive the inevitable feedback that the work product isn’t up to snuff, do I tell the partner what happened?
