When I learned the concept of a 6 figure salary job in 2005, it subconsciously became a career goal of mine. This year I should hit the figure, but just checked an inflation calculator for fun, 100k in 2005 is now ~138K in 2021 😅

Hoping that when I want to exit, there are 40hr/week, ~150K TC jobs out there for me 😔

My first full time white collar job paid $7.50/hr and I thought I was raking it in compared to my previous jobs (my highest paying previous job had been $6.25/hr). When I was around 20/21, I thought if I made $55k by 30, I'd be set for life if I stayed in the South. I graduated college into a $35k job and blasted past that $55k goal to $75k within 3 years. I hit $100k 6 years out of undergrad and thought I was absolutely killing it. My dad retired at the director level in healthcare in the Midwest pulling in ~$190k and I passed that 10 years out of college, a whopping ~30 years before he did. This profession really does pay well overall and those of us who've been in it really do tend to be completely removed from what folks outside of consulting/tech/banking make.

Wait till you find out how quickly 100k becomes 500K. I'm still waiting for that 1000K day. And before I get asked: 5 inches, 37, F100, and it's almost all in bonus & equity (60%). Get that sweet sweet equity!!

Should have worked in 2005 when the money was free and we all had 0 down interest only loans on our 10 investment properties. Six figs was cake.

Were you in the workforce in 2005?

No, I joined the corporate full time workforce in 2018

Don’t forget to HELOC every 3 months to pay the interest on the next 5 investment properties and refi to a variable rate to take advantage of the falling interest rates.

Accenture - Cloud Native Application Architect - 180K - 20K signon Insight DI - Architect I - 167K base + 10% bonus - 5K sign on Money & benefit wise acc. looks good but I am concerned about the WLB. Also, I interviewed for Cloud native sr. architect. Recruiter came back with 'great feedback' but is now asking me to apply for application architect. It doesn't make any sense to me. Is that normal? It seems there was a goof up from recruiter

I recognize that I’ve performed very well and garnered the recognition of many teammates while being able to maintain a fairly regular 8:30/9—4:30/5 schedule, but rather than be grateful for such an opportunity I can’t help but feel as though (1) I’ve been extremely lucky; and (2) I definitely should not feel like I’ll be able to continue experiencing such a (relatively speaking) lax setup.
