When I was a kid, I thought being a scientist would allow me to learn about the world. I didn't realize just how much paperwork there is.

Lol. I think it happens to all of us, we decided to become scientists for the same reason.

Being a scientist is definitely not as glamorous as we imagined as kids when you discover the number of lab reports, inventories, and safety forms you have to fill out on a regular basis

Yeah, the truth is that when you imagine being a scientist as a child, you don't think about the amount of reading and writing you have to do.

If child-me had her way, I'd be blowing things up in the morning and turning everyone into spiderman in the afternoon. The paperwork is probably better, a world full of Marvel characters sounds problematic.

There are many puncture dreams along the way. Do not give up soon you will know a lot about the world and concentrate on your goals. I know you'll make it.

What department are you in? If you see that you are stuck try to move to another position. It all depends on where you are.

I see that you are in the research sector, in this department there is always a lot of work, but I know that you will have the opportunity to grow even more and get to know the world, it sounds difficult but I went through it.

Have you tried moving to the science sector? I work as a scientist and I am involved in many trips and indirect investigations, mostly in the oil and gas sector.

Hello! I’m only about 4 weeks pregnant, so super early. I am about to go on vacation and thankfully did a quick search on some “dos and donts” for the first trimester. I am v disappointed to see I shouldn’t do saunas and hot tubs as my vacation was really planned to be all relaxation. But it got me thinking, could you all share the most surprising pregnancy do or don’t you’ve encountered? I feel like I just need a master list cause there seem to be so many limitations 😭

PSA: Buy a house if you are able. I spent the first 5 years in big law annoyed and upset with many things but my life has gotten so much better since I bought a house. I now have a separate office to work from and actually like working from home. I no longer have loud neighbors I share a wall or ceiling/floor with. I have an extra room for my mother in law to stay in and visit my infant child (instead of taking him to her house for visits only once a month). Also no worry about rent hikes.

Wife and kid are going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks. Instead of wasting time, I’d like to do something productive. What would you do if you have say 3+ hours a day. Maybe self help, wealth creation type books, work out daily, take care of some things around the house.

My husband and I used to be very affectionate. We used to take at least 2 hrs everyday just to give each other emotional space. We would talk about what we’re feeling and why and so on. It used to be so fulfilling and beautiful.
But since we had a kid, all conversations are with a purpose. It’s either planning the next day, the next move, finances, etc. Amidst this, we lost focus on each other.

Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this and got back to their original selves?

I’m at 11 weeks but stopped having nausea, fatigue, and sore breasts. I don’t feel pregnant at all and that wasn’t the case a few days ago. I know it could be normal but I can’t help but assume the worst. Did anyone feel the same way? Is it normal to feel “normal” this early?

Is it the smart move to take a pay cut and clerk for a judge?

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. I did not take advantage of the law school extracurriculars and missed out on clerk application deadlines my final year (2020). Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.

My creative marketing agency, Codeword, is hiring account people! Senior Account Managers, an Account Director, and Account Managers. We work with tech clients like Google, Linktree, Qualcomm, and others. The agency has about 80 employees, but is owned by a much bigger parent company so the benefits are great! Most of the roles are based in NYC but we also have offices in San Francisco and Salt Lake City.

Message me if you have any questions and I can possibly refer you!

Hello Friends,

Just need some advice
Currently I am working as QA in automation, yoe : 5.10, but I feel being in QA field wont take me long in career, after 8-9 years I dont know what else is left to learn in this specific domain. You start shifting towards non technical side and become managers at early stage in your career.

I am looking for domain change and confused between two:
1)Data engineer (azure)
2)Devops

Which career path would be good to be relevant in IT for long technical career?
