Judicial clerkships - Never. Even if you relegate it to one line, I’d fight to keep it. For law school stuff/non-atty positions, as soon as you have enough other stuff to fill the page.
Judicial clerkships stay there forever, because nothing impresses someone who did a judicial clerkship like someone else who did a judicial clerkship. That’s like 83% of the utility of those things.
Everything else, drop it as soon as you can.
Respectfully that’s about 5% of the utility of a judicial clerkship. Or at least it was in my case. My just died last year. His former clerks gathers for a memorial. For all of us he was one of the most important teachers and mentors we ever had.
I like to keep my resume at one page, so whenever it gets pushed off the page I guess. My clerk experience was pushed off a bit ago.
I really feel like you can keep that on LinkedIn forever
LinkedIn is entirely different from your resume. The beauty of LinkedIn is that it can serve as the “second page” of a resume, allowing you to keep relevant or important career highlights. I would argue that a clerkship can maintain import for many years to come depending on your career trajectory. Until you’re very well established in what you’re doing, have articles, other orgs and large variety taking up your page - keep the law clerk stuff.
