So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!
Sick man^ I have no inclination to pursue either, but quant oriented funds (DE Shaw, Point72, etc .) pref that over an MBA. Take your blinders off VP.. your IB is showing
I know someone who jumped from an IT role to a research role via MSF. If you want something more quantitative/analytical, then MSF is the way to go. If you want to go super technical/quant then the MFE, MS in math/CS, potentially PhD track is your best bet
Never
I did an MSF. It’s usually just the finance classes from the MBA (cuts out the pricing, ops, speaking fluff classes; though we had a little exposure to each). There are more quant focused programs as mentioned by IBA1, with a different target career path
Do top schools offer MSF programs now? I always think of an MBA as 90% for the networking and I feel the MSF is less-good for that.
