Not sure about the best time but I think at least 2-3 years experience at a firm is expected.

I reside in Columbus, Ohio. I have three years of public accounting experience in India from 2012 - 2015 and was unable to work due to visa restrictions. As a refresher to my career I invested in pursuing CPA. I passed FAR and Audit sections. Should I apply for associate or experienced associate roles in USA public accounting firms? I feel I can handle more work load than a fresher. Any thoughts and referrals are much appreciated

Man this Bowl is filled with some angry mid-levels. We get it, this job was hard for you, but it is for juniors now, too. Stop punching down.

I don’t think the juniors are entitled, they just want to share in their firms’ wealth. Surely any salary increases for the Classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021 would easily pay for themselves through billable hours.

How do you deal with explaining why you want to leave your current job when personality conflict is one of the main reasons? Partner is just not a good person and does not seem to be able/want to refrain from verbally abusing people. I know conventionally people advise against mentioning it, but seems difficult and almost disingenuous to cite lack of opportunity or other reasons entirely. Any advice?

Any suggestions for successfully lateraling from a boutique/midsize to big law as a second or third year in entertainment (lit or transactional), particularly in LA?

I didn’t attend law school in LA (or T15) but otherwise have a transferable, well rounded resume with ample experience (IMO). Workload and Covid has nearly eliminated all networking events. Are these opportunities really limited to associates from the same handful of schools?

Idea: the market is so starved for associates right now that I am not sure firms can do anything if large numbers of associates work from home 2-3 days a week. They can’t afford to fire us. Let’s unionize!

Mid/senior associate here. I want to transfer abroad to a location where my firm has an office, but no NY law licensed attorneys currently work. I work w this office and in the jurisdiction frequently, so there’s a business case for it, plus some (but not all) partners are on board. How hard can/should I push for this and how much leverage do I have?
