When leaving a firm on your own terms, what needs to be done? For example, what to do with your 401(k), roll into IRA, keep it with old firm? Transfer files? etc. Other suggestions?

- Talk to mentors, close colleagues
- Transfer contacts and personal files
- Transfer phone service
- For retirement, leaving 401k, rolling to IRA, and rolling to new employer are all options. For most people, rolling into an IRA makes lots of sense unless either employers’ 401k is fantastic or you plan to do backdoor Roth contributions later.
- Set OOO with yournphone. Inner and new email
- Turn in your tech
- Wash your hands

^ Transfer contacts. If you used company phone/email to communicate then you probably won’t have the info saved unless you make an effort to transfer.

For Accenture I’d consider keeping 401k. The fund options are cheaper even then what’s available at Vanguard

Be very careful about file transfers - don't want to be perceived as stealing from the firm.

Most people will probably want to roll into their IRA to take advantage of better rates or options, but sometimes that isn't necessary. For example, if you have vanguard for both 401k and IRA, your 401k might actually have an even better Expense ratio. Gotta check the numbers.

I made a point to go through email, email drafts, OneNote, notepad++ and collect all my "notes to self". Nothing company oriented, just personal notes I had jotted down.

Write a (brief) goodbye. Whether you like your coworkers or not, it's good for networking and professional

Sorry I know I’m late but trying to figure out how to transfer my 401k from current employer to new employer? What do i do?

What does your workload look like and or how many projects are you managing at any given time? Just wondering, as I have been interviewing and companies seem alarmed at how much work I am managing

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.

If know the following:
Financed amount: $1,300,000
Payments (qtrly): $70,000
Number of payments: 20

So this would result in $100k of interest paid for an overall rate of 8% but that would not represent the notional rate, right? How would I calculate the effective rate for amortization purposes?

Thanks!

I’m looking to transition from an academic medical center to pharma or a biotech. I have about 8 years of clinical research experience overall — 7 years combined as a CRC (CRC I, CRC II, and senior CRC) and 1 year as a PM. I’m also recently ACRP-CP certified.

I’ve worked with many different industry-sponsors and CROs throughout the years, but many jobs I am applying to require experience at a biotech/CRO/pharma company. Would really appreciate any advice or referrals. Thanks in advance!

First time investor and trying to do tax filing. If you bought the same coin or stock at 100 and then next day at 200 (cost basis 150 per share/coin is), and your investment goes up to 600, (300 per share/coin) and you sell only one share/coin and receive 300, does that still create taxable event or is it considered just taking out your principal investment amount until you sell more than 300? Also is transferring coin from one wallet to another a taxable event or considered selling/buying?
