When negotiating salaries, how much above the initial offer should I make my counter offer?

I think there are a couple different factors like market rates, YOE and what you're currently making. I think a good rule of thumb is 10-15k above but that's if they are offering something comparable in the market

Yeah, I usually aim for somewhere in this range (usually the top of the bracket) and negotiate from there.

Make the difference twice as much as the amount you would actually like in order to give them some negotiating room.

Yup, always aim high and see how close to the top you can get.

My general rule of thumb is 10%- it’s close enough to justify a negotiation. But, obviously, there are lots of exceptions to this

Suggestions for blowing 1 million Marriott points? I’m looking for a nice property by the beach, with hot weather. (I also have 7 suite night upgrades if it helps.) I understand points are being devalued in March. But can my travel take place any time this year to get the full value?

I work for a startup and recently a headhunter working with another company reached out about a role. Turns out, this company is invested in my current startup and is also an advisor to my current company. I have no intention of quitting right now but want to test the waters and see what kind of offers I can get. Would be a good idea to apply at this company? Would they "warn" my ceo about the fact that I applied?

Interviewing for a role at Apple but found the same role at Meta this week. I applied to the position and reached out to a few recruiters via LinkedIn (haven’t received a response, sure they are swamped). Meta is remote whereas Apple is not, really hoping I can interview at Meta as the role is a perfect fit. Am I to late to do a referral? Would anyone be willing to help? Thank you in advance!!

We are a family with 2 kids under 3 years. Yoe : 13 - 40 lpa Yoe : 10 - 20 lpa. Watched on YouTube about the Netherlands biking culture and how it's a good place for kids. Thinking of staying long term and sending kids to Dutch school. Just beginning to apply via LinkedIn. Both of us plan to work and needed inputs on what combined salary would make sense. Would it be good to accept an opportunity if one us of us gets 60keuro and hope spouse would get an opportunity once we move there?

When should I start applying to full-time positions if I graduate in December 2022? I currently have an internship this summer in consulting at IBM. And last summer I interned at the Federal Reserve doing compliance and digital transformation. I don't know if I will return to IBM, but I will decide on that based on the experience I have at the internship. However in the mean time I want to explore and see what other opportunities there are. Any advice on when and where to apply for full-time?

Got reached out to by a recruiter on LinkedIn, and set up a call to talk about the position. We talked on Tuesday and the call seemed to go very well. She said she would follow up by sending me the job posting to look at more in depth and confirm with the hiring manager that my salary requirements fit the position. I followed up thanking her for her time and expressing my excitement about the opportunity but still haven’t heard anything from her after our call. Do I follow up again?
