In the past it would have been good form to give notice in person, at least for the partners you care about. Can’t imagine anyone would feel put off by a call though given the WFH situation.
Split difference and do a phone call.
I called my primary partner and mentor before I gave notice to explain that I was leaving, why, and how I intended to handle ongoing matters.
I like that this gives one a bit more to discuss!
I told managing partner who I worked closely with in person. Called all other partners I worked closely with. And then just emailed the people I so so worked with. This was like 1 year into Covid times.
