Anyone feel weird about wearing their wedding rings/expensive jewelry? I worked with my now husband to build a beautiful ring from an antique stone we bought from an estate sale and a jeweler who made a setting more my style, and paid fairly little for the total set. Then we got it appraised to insure it and learned that the appraised value is over 3x what we paid. Now I am super paranoid when we go outside of work/home with it. My husband takes it personally when I don't wear it regularly(cont)

What do you think is the best way to find a new teaching job: word of mouth, certain websites (which ones?), local announcements? I've applied for some jobs via websites like Indeed and I'll find out later that they had to post it but they already had someone in mind. I don't want to waste my time.

I have a part time babysitter who is also a student. Do I still pay her if so go on vacation for 2 weeks ?

I recently got engaged and my fiancé and I are in process of moving in together (new place for both of us). I feel great about us, but I’m finding myself really nervous about this step (cont.)

I enjoyed yesterday’s policy thread, so I want to throw out another topic.

The national debt has grown from $3.2 Trillion in 1990 to $26.7 Trillion, as of 9:18am EST this morning (8/26/2020.)

So, two questions:

1. Is the US National Debt something we should be concerned about?

2a. If “yes”, how should the United States address the growing debt?

2b. If “no”, why not?

Has anyone here taken bereavement leave? If so, for how long? Trying to understand what best practice is here- don’t think our firm has a concrete policy on this. Thanks fam.

Ok I’m at a point I wonder where I should invest my time CPA exam, actuarial exams, or maybe a coding boot camp? I went from financial services to PA back to financial services. I cannot get amped up to take the CPA exam. Am I nuts for wanting to try actuarial exams?

I am currently good at SQL and ETL design and tools. Wanted to learn something new..most of the job description I see on job websites ..list Python/ pearl/Ruby/ R or combination of above languages in addition to sql... What will be a good language to learn Python or R. I want to move towards data engineer pathway. R seems more statistics oriented so not sure if I will benefit from it.
