When realistically do you think your firm will start making people work from the office again? My lease on my apartment in the city ends in February and I’m contemplating moving upstate or a neighbouring state for most next year. I’m thinking not until the vaccine is comprehensively rolled out, probably around Q3.

Hopefully never in my case. But realistically Q3 seems right

like

Q3 sounds right. Our firm just told us no one will be asked to go back until Q2.

like

My thoughts are Q3 for a hybrid system (in voluntarily/a few days a week). Courts to open up fully by Q4 and back to a new norm.

like

A2, what’s your practice area?

I’m guessing the ugly truth is that us working age professionals won’t get our hands on a vaccine before July or even in 2021 because they simply cannot make them fast enough.

For reference, the US has 54 million people over the age of 65 and they will require 110 million vaccines. Only then we will get vaccinated.

For a brief while it seemed that we would be back in the office in September, but things have spiraled out of control again. So if I were you, I’d say a rental contract for 6 mos would be a safe bet if your landlord agrees to that.

like

Considering October was the busiest single month in my firm’s history, there isn’t much need to require people back in any time soon. I’d say q3 or 4 2021.

Weil?

Firm has said at least “through flu season”, but has given no indication of even estimating when.

I’m a 5th year that just lateraled. I’m coming from a centralized staffing system where I never had to worry about getting work. My new firm is more of a hybrid model. I feel like I should go talk to partners to try to get staffed, but I don’t really know what I’m doing. Any tips/advice? Do I just introduce myself and say hi? Or do I specifically ask for work?
