Ask the partners to work it out. That’s what they get paid to do.

I reached out to one partner to schedule a call, and when I didn’t hear back, I reached out to the second. The second asked to staff me right away, and then the first replied with an opportunity. Currently dreading the call with the first partner

Humble brag 💁🏻‍♂️

OP just teasing. People starting at this time of the year tend to spend longer on the bench. Trust me, many would love to be in your situation. And yes, you need to pay attention to the approach. I’d probably learn more about each role, decide on one, and politely decline the other, saying that your interest falls more within the first role. You could also recommend someone else so it doesn’t seem like you are just declining without considering the consequences.

They do all understand - happens to everyone. Frame it as the other opportunity is better for your development needs, and even my truest of mentors who want me on projects have understood and been supportive of my choice.

Be honest with both that you’ve been asked for each project and let them figure it out.

Fight to the death!

Do you have a preference? If not, be honest with both about the situation and seek their direction on what to do.

If you prefer one over the the other. Then just say that’s the one you want to try and that it fits what you are looking for now. If you don’t gave a preference, the partners can work it out.

Pick the partner that has more weight in sponsorship and bat for you

My grandma has COVID and is in the hospital. Been making errors this past week in client emails and work and being reprimanded by my boss (I deserve it). I think I’m getting fired and my mental state is a mess. :( I’m going to talk to my boss tomorrow and apologize. Do I mention my grandma? I don’t want her to think I’m making excuses.

Anyone here considering or attending McCombs? I love Austin but I feel the non-tech opportunities there are limited. It’d be good to hear what recruiting is actually like vs. just the employment reports. I’m interested in consulting or corporate finance.
