Big 4 won't pay much better tbh

The reason for my inquiry is that all of you are getting 10%+ raises and bonuses when I'm getting 6% and no bonus. That adds up quick. I really do like my firm, but it seems like there's better pay elsewhere.

like

Eh those numbers seem in line with what I have seen at EY for a staff

like

I got 6% raise and a $500 bonus after tax. I also started at 51 in a relatively high COL city so....

OP, I know for sure that grass is no always greener. You'd have to wait to try to get in as a Senior or experienced senior. You have to bring something to the table for them to consider you over the regular college grad. Most of my B4 friends want to trade places, especially during busy seasons. I somehow haven't managed to hate my job yet. Raises ranges and bonuses are all BS. At the end of the day, of someone makes 3k extra, but worked 200 hours more than I do, let them keep it, they earned that. It all depends. Check all your options and don't go just for money. Moreso, the B4 know that everyone wants them on their resume, so pay is definitely modest before mgr level.

I'm located in the Midwest in a low cost of living area and make about $50k. My firm does not give bonuses and on average our raises are 6%.

Where in the Midwest?

About an hour away from Minneapolis

Dang maybe I don't have it that bad. How are you rated? I'm not the smartest person at my firm, but I'm a go-getter and am willing to learn and do whatever is necessary. I'd say I'm rated above average.

Do you get a rating? I'm a 3.. my reviews are above average but good/great reviews don't always translate to a higher rating

Yeah I wouldn't say there is any pay difference. If anything smaller firms are definitely getting paid more/hr

CH 1 is right on point. Is it really worth making a couple thousand more if you have to work substantially more to earn it? I'd be more focused on your long term career goals than I would pay. Base your decisions on those goals.

After your first year. Come in directly as a second year. No wasted effort. The higher you go after that, the more likely you will have to take a demotion to transfer.

I heard Product Managers, Product Owners, Program Managers, but are there any others? I want to exit for sure but I don’t want to make a short term decision I regret.

I’d love some help thinking through this. I’m currently renting for $1600 base ($1800 total) and live in the least desirable part of town, and expect it to raise to about $2k/month. I was planning to buy my first property in the city and Airbnb part of it, but it will take me about a year to save up the cash (~$500k starting). Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued

So I started at a new role at a known retailer about 2 months ago. I am their first hire in this role, as I have more than 5 years of relevant experience leading initiatives and optimizing process across departments. While I understand it takes time to adjust to the culture, its seems like all I have witnessed is resistance to change. I already feel myself not wanting to be here long, but I'm putting pressure on myself to not be a quitter. Would you stick it out or start looking?

If you apply to an audit client, how restrictive is it? Would you need to let your company know, even if you are just applying? I am in consulting so I have never been on an audit engagement. I hear if you do exit, you will have additional paperwork to fill but for the most part, is it easy/not a big deal?

I recognize I broke a lot of my trading rules and I essentially was trading on emotion which lead to my loss. If it matters my portfolio is about 80k and I make about the same in salary. So this was the most money I’ve ever handled or even traded. Advice?
