I am extremely underpaid.
It’s reasonable
How did you get a PE role? Intrigued!
I wasn’t really looking for job as I am doing very well in my current firm. Though WLB is out of balance. But head hunters really convinced me to consider

200k base - why not. Definitely the top end for that YOE, but it you're offering a good mix of skillset in a HCOL area, they may bite
Ask for your new promo base plus 10-15 percent.
Def ask for $200. That’s the market rate for 9 YoE with a grad degree
What skills do you bring to the table? What results and innovation have you been able to drive? Based on how you present and convey the value you add, 200k in NY with 9 YOE should be doable.
What role in PE is it? Back office or deal side? If deal side, definitely reasonable to ask $200k base with 9 YOE
Its a tech role (cloud) & not on the deals. I previously passed a role that offered $175k 1.5 year ago in NYC at a tech firm. Primarily because i did not like the role. So, i was thinking 200k now is a reasonable ask

Question: so do you work at a portfolio company? What would a PE firm do I’m cloud except maybe have you source cloud investments?
Support their existing Tech & infra. They are rapidly growing
Thanks everyone. Also, my ask is $200k TC and not base. Although i will be firm on atleast 20% base pay rise considering higher taxes & COL. I thought $200k base is a little too much but not sure
Not sure where in CT you are but Manhattan is pricey as sh*t. Obviously you probably know market rate more than me for your role, I would consider 15-20% base increase for jumping ship and 20% to cover COL and taxes.
Ya it’s not, East coast is notorious for underpaying tech so I’ve seen swings ranging from 80K->250K (DC to NY/CT) similar YOE as you.
