When you do work for school (lesson planning and/or grading), do you keep the TV or music on in the background? I like to, but it's also distracting and makes me way less efficient.

Actually, I watch YouTube videos on the topics I'm teaching this week. Found some great material to share with my students and keeps the brain semi on task.

Depends. Usually I do have the TV going or maybe a YouTube vlog going. LOL. But if it's something I really need to think and concentrate on (such as making an answer key sometimes), then I will put everything on pause. I honestly don't see how students can listen to music and work. It would be too distracting for me, especially if I was taking a quiz or test. (I don't let my students listen to their personal music while doing quizzes or tests but in years past I would play music from a class playlist while they did so. Hasn't happened this school year though.)

How do you come up with the class play list?

Anything noise wise yes. My mind get easily distracted if it’s too quiet.

I do not— because I am HIGHLY ADHD. I would start writing the words of the song down in the lesson plans. 😂

Girl same!

I like jazz in the background but down pretty low. Miles Davis, sometimes worship music. I can have on basketball or football games as long as it’s not a game I care about. Can’t do shows or else I pay attention.

QQ for any TTP users: what would you recommend as the most accelerated use of the portal? I have my GMAT in about 10 days. I've had access for half a month and I'm through ~20% problems. I've only targeted sections where I felt I needed the most improvement mainly focusing on chapter tests. If I haven't met the accuracy needed, I've then spent time on the lessons and usually hit the accuracy after. For additional context, aiming for Q47+. I was on a Q45 on a Veritas mock last week.

It's finally happened. I can feel that I have given up. The breaking point? My CD making a big deal out of having a call on Saturday at 1 pm to look over a deck that was due this morning. I rearrange my schedule. I move my kids piano lesson. I stay up until 2 the night before making sure everything is in line. He never calls. Doesn't respond to my text. I send him the deck and he doesn't respond until Sunday afternoon. Then gets pissy when I say I can't hop on the phone at that exact moment.

Ugh. I went on vacation last week for meeting my boyfriend’s family for the 1st time/his sister’s wedding. I’ve been trying to lose quarantine weight for the past 5 months ahead of this trip (healthier eating, working out 5-6x a day, calorie deficit). I was getting back to my old physique pre covid. But during this trip I just ate everything without thinking twice. Especially when his family would offer food cause I didn’t want to be rude. Now I feel back to square 1. Continued below..
