I throw it out! No guilt. I know I’m cold. Lol
I feel like someone should create the “destructible Christmas card” that self destructs after the 25th so both sides don’t feel guilt or mad when they threw it out. Perhaps it can be reused to make future Christmas cards or maybe fades after the 25th into a different image like a happy new year message or something.
Macro advice? Read Marie Kondo and then decide for yourself what to do with them.
Micro advice? Keep them for a year so you’ll know who to mail cards to next Christmas. After that recycle them.
...or recycle and just keep a Google doc with the addresses on there
I don’t throw them out ... I recycle them 😉
Zero guilt. Why feel guilty? What do you think you’re expected to do with them? Keep them in a box you refer to never and just contribute to clutter? Life is too short to even think about guilt over this. You’re too kind. Toss them.
I have a little shelf in our living room that I put them on for the year. Each year I clean off the old ones and toss them so there’s space to add the new ones as they come in. I personally don’t feel obligated to keep any of them but I do enjoy seeing photos of the people I love throughout the year. If I don’t feel very close to them, they never make it to the shelf.
Fireplace mantle Christmas eve.
In the fireplace Christmas morning.
I think about how I'll feel about these photos and notes in 40+ years. What if these people are dead? Or the card is a precious window into a life they used to have, especially with young kids? I only apply this thinking to people I really care about, but the sentimentality and nostalgia is real.
Wife keeps some. But I honestly don’t care because I know we’ll get a new one next year.
I like the idea of burning them like the Yule log.
open, read, toss. ✌️
I legit was just thinking about that. I have a drawer full of cards and I’m like, do I really need to keep these?
No, you do not. Toss them
Depends on the person and the picture.
Traditional format, hand signed cards: Read, keep if someone close to me (past ones in my drawer are the only reminders of my grandparents’ signatures), display on counter until time to recycle the next garbage day
Pre-printed sentiments on photo cards: Take note, maybe look the pics (there are almost always more than one), immediately toss into recycle bin, have other kids’ faces smile up at me each time I add an empty cereal box until they go out to the curb
I wish photo cards would stop being a thing.
