or take him out to dinner and congratulate your peer. you'll get it next year and now you have someone really close to you helping you out. in the future one year isn't gonna matter but the rock stars become somebodies and you want them as friends

This is the best app ever- thanks for the support guys/girls. Definitely feels like shit. Who wants to refer me to their firm? I promise I don't suck.

I would leave

Obviously no idea what you do at BAH but I would seriously investigate other firms. You might get that promotion/pay bump. And if you have multiple offers, you can play the firms against each other

If it makes you feel better... I started the same time as someone, got rated better than them every year, got promoted last year, they finally got promoted this year, getting paid 10% more than me now

Haha @OP I can refer you to Deloitte

Same exact thing happened to me. Brought the peer into the project and helped him with everything throughout the past year. He got promoted and I didn't. Feels like shit tbh

Feel this pain all to well, and one more reason I'm going to start looking elsewhere this year. I like many things about the firm but promotions seem to boil down to tenure or politics. Hope you hit a happy hour or something tonight.

It's not you at all. I saw 6-7 of my colleagues at the cons/sr.cons range willingly leave in pursuit of something better. All talented, and none burned a bridge and are welcome to come back in the future, should they choose. It simply seems like the firm is cushy for some and a grinder for others (mostly junior level staff.)

like

I left and brought my career manager over. Politics are huge especially if you're on projects not aligned to your pyramid. He shed some light on it recently and I would've never guessed it from my former leadership that I looked up to even after leaving the firm.

How do we do this? Direct messaging feature would help

I'll take that referral bonus 🙋🏽

@deloitte1- let's get it.

@OP nope post it and ill shoot you an email. Or if you're worried about someone recognizing it, make a fake email account without your name in it

Thanks for sharing, Deloitte 2. I always wonder what folks think when they leave the firm...

Politics trumps everything else! I feel the pain as well! New year, new opportunities!

I can refer to PwC

Sooo many people I work with came from BAH with similar stories. Make the jump to the green dot!

Happened to me this past year.... I felt like sh!t for 2 weeks but life goes on. If you don't get it next year, leave for sure.

I've been freelancing for an agency part time on and off since November and low-balled myself for $50/hour because I was unemployed and desperate for work at the time. I have worked on a lot of interesting stuff for them for my book but I have a full-time now and I want to raise my rate to $75/hour. Is it better to ask for that now or to ask for $60 now and $75 next year? What's a good way to ask for the increase? I value their relationship so I want to be reasonable.

Your colleague keeps busting your chops because he/she has a terrible sense of humor and doesn’t understand the inside joke. I got frustrated and tried to correct, but oh no no… I should’ve raise my voice even a little or I’m crossing the line.

At firms without an up-or-our policy, is the promotion process still clear? Is it consistent?
