27, wife quit her job after maternity leave so salary was mid 80s. You won’t ever feel ready, OP.

Nah my title never changed. I’m a controller now. That was a few years ago.

I was 32, HHI was around $350k, net worth around $700k. Hard to ever feel ready but we felt as ready as we could.

Same except lower NW (500k) - financially I felt we are in a good spot. And the wife finished med school now so hopefully see a bump soon as well. Now it is about finding a balance to spend more time with the kids

I was 29. Household income was $160k and net worth was around $200k or so. HHI went up to $195k two days before the baby was born (new job), which was nice. We were 100% financially prepared even without the big raise.

29, lived in NC, it was a long time ago but I think our TC was about $70k right when I went back to work because my husband got laid off. It ended up working out okay because he was unemployed until she was about eight months old and saved us childcare costs, off-setting some of his lost income. He then worked from home for a number of years with me working from home 2x a week - it was very stressful juggling her care (she didn’t go to any kind of preschool until 2 and then only went half-day), but we were committed to her not being in a full-time daycare, just as a personal choice. By the time our third came around when I was 35, we certainly were making more money, but we also then had an au pair who lived with us AND expenses for preschool for our middle guy. We didn’t feel really comfortable and financially stable until we were about 40, I’d say.

26, household income is 210K, net worth around 350K. We felt financially ready.

I was 35, he was 44. HHI of $500k, net worth of $750k. We felt long past being ready in all ways.

I was 27 and in college

I was 38 she was 34. HHI was somewhere in the $350k range and net worth somewhere around $800k at the time, we hadn’t bought our house yet. We were more than prepared, just got married a little later in life, otherwise would have had kids sooner. Second kid at 40/36, further improved financial situation, same analysis.

22 and just graduated college. Net worth was negative and my first job I made $35k. Absolutely not ready financially or mentally but you live and learn. Now, almost 10 years later I'm making $200k and can provide a much better life to my kids

I started working in a agency two months ago, and I have two very big projects running simultaneously. My Creative Director left for paternity leave, and left me with all the work, facing the client, going to shootings, editing. I've been working 15 days straight, no weekends. The agency hasn't given me any back up/someone I can team up with to do the job. Is this normal? I'm used to have a partner, a copywriter or another creative working alongside. Keep in mind that I'm mid-level.

I’m currently on PIP b/c low utilization and “Performance trends” during my first pregnancy. I’m pregnant again, I was not promoted due to PIP, does that mean I won’t be eligible for paid mat. leave?

Thoughts about taking paternity leave piecemeal? I.e one month full time then a 2-3 days a week for the rest of the two months so I can work while taking care of my child?

Anyone ever had trouble with a doctor not wanting to certify a family member’s condition, in order to take a leave of absence? My brother attempted suicide via drug OD (he was addicted) and he’s been hospitalized for over a week with seizures, psychosis, peeing blood, etc. We have visited him every day, driving 100+ miles round trip. The doctor is giving my father and me grief, saying (quote) “you aren’t providing care, the hospital is” and “there’s no reason you can’t go back to work.”

Hope to learn more if you bought an apt in Manhattan, or if you decided against it (renting/moving to upstate/Long Island/Jersey). My husband and I are considering to have a baby soon and are thinking of buying and living in Manhattan for the next 10 years or so (looking at property under $2M). Please share what you considered as you were making the decision - I hate throwing away rent but also don’t want to trap ourselves in significant financial obligations. Thanks!

Hi. My mother is 73 yrs old and is here in NYC from Chennai. She’s not used to weather below 28 C. She’s been having muscle pain in legs and shoulder. Went to doc & they’re just saying it’s coz.. cont

New dad here with a 10 week old. Wife is working extremely hard to take care of the baby and lately he's very fussy with her and but not me. He'll keep fussing, complaining and crying on her when he's tired and when she hands him to me he gets comfy and falls asleep in 10 mins. Its defeating for her and its killing me seeing how upset she is. She's amazing but she's getting it in her head that she's a bad mom. I'm hoping its just a phase... Anyone experience this? How long till your baby stopped favoring one parent do much? Any tips?

Started as a baby legal assistant about ten years ago at a transactional firm - now the majority (seven years) of my experience is in litigation. I am wanting to move more toward transactional or in-house now. Am I basically starting completely over? I am well respected and sought-out in litigation, but I'm unsure of how to market myself in the direction I want to go with as much confidence. Has anyone successfully made this move?

Has anyone successfully made the career move from an HR specialization to an HRBP role? If so, how? I have been working for 7 years in a very niche HR specialization and while I wear many hats on the HR team, I feel like this is hard to express to recruiters or even get an interview for an HRBP role.
