If you are on a beach.. with a committed project to start in 10 days with no prep or work required; what skill would you spend you time developing? How?

What’s the best advice for a 2019 grad who is looking to jump into biglaw corporate work but only has truly unrelated experience at a smaller firm? (Think ID, divorce.) Know it’s a long shot, but where would one even begin? I’m in lit and came straight in through a fed clerkship, so I got the red carpet treatment and have no idea what to tell this person.

We moved to a city both of us hate for my husband’s job about 4 years ago. Want to move asap before our son starts school. Husband has been applying for jobs elsewhere — which seem well within his reach, salary, experience, etc - and got another rejection today. He’s in a field that has seasonal hiring patterns, and this year’s almost closed. He feels like he let me down, I feel horrible for putting pressure on him. Advice for being supportive when I’m crushed we’re stuck here another year?

Has anyone not practiced “ casing “ and was able to still do well in an interview? I feel after a certain time spent in the industry you naturally start to understand the goals / potential pros cons of business’s.

Networking- is it best to do info sessions and hope for a referral or to first apply and ask someone to push your resume into hiring managers hand to look at? Which has a better success rate?

Was preferring having someone refer me before, but it takes so long and not everyone refers, but second option takes risk that they can’t refer you anymore.
