Would you chose to not manage people if your pay was no different? Managers at my company have 2 options, manager of people and projects, or just manage projects. Pay is all the same. I’ve seen the people managers be so stretched because they’re basically doing the same work as other managers, but then also doing long project management and they end up at like 60 hours a week between their direct reports and projects.

2020 college graduate (FB wouldn’t work with my real Linkedin profile) trying to find any kind of entry-level paralegal/project assistant/legal assistant role.

Haven’t gotten any bites so far—job market is really tough and I am struggling. Does anyone have any insights on how to get a foot into the door? Should I try to contact HR? Is there a recruiter you guys recommend? Should I get an ABA approved paralegal degree? Willing to take the long route but I am determined to get a position.

My observation is that it is hard for consulting partners to land the quality public or private board roles everyone naturally targets. Despite there being a significant amount of exceptional talent that could be deployed, there is a big bias against consultants. Everyone wants “operators,” but I feel every board could also benefit from one current or former consulting partner. But sadly, that’s not the way the external world looks at things...
