Advice please! I have $200k in a savings account (on top of 6 mos. emergency $) and plan to retire in 10 yrs. I'm VERY risk averse and would stash it in a CD but rates are so low. What to do? I don't want to risk losing $ but feel I am in a way by not doing anything with it...
I don't like counting the chickens before my eggs hatch, but I do have to start thinking what happens if things do work out? I have been interviewing for a few companies and believe that I may see an offer in the next month or so.
Besides comparing base and bonus, what things should I be comparing? Both tangible and not?
Also, I have a cash balance pension plan; I know the companies I am talking with do not have that; has anyone here left a company voluntarily with that benefit?
I owe $40k taxes. Option 1. Sell investments in my taxable account (resulting in capital gains) to pay. Option 2. a"loan" from 401k, at 5% interest, which I pay back to myself (not govt) over 5 yrs??
I am invested in a Target retirement fund through my previous employers 401k plan. I am hoping to consolidate that into a IRA and invest it all into VTI (maybe 10% bonds). What are the things I should consider before making the transfer? Currently the TRF portfolio is 15% down due to market conditions so I am not sure if I should wait or do the roll over now.
Just started my first job out of college. What percent of my income should I put towards retirement? I’m planning to max out my Roth (as I’ll reach the income limit in a few years) then put some in my 401k. My company does not match anything but automatically puts 5% in a profit sharing retirement fund.
What is Flex work policy at MasterCard and does it get followed? Also what is 401k match?Mastercard

Whether earlier a member of employees pension scheme 1955?
This might not be career related but I am seeking advice on how to retire early. I know nothing about investing or saving money/budgeting so are there any good resources or advice anybody could share as I start my career? I’ve tried to read up about FIRE but I feel like I’m too dumb because it’s so complicated and I don’t understand it. Thank you!
Does everyone plan on staying at EY until they earn their full pension at normal retirement age of 65? This seems like a ridiculously long time to work in this profession.
If I've maxed out my TFSA, should I continue investing through an RRSP or a personal investment account?
For context, I also have a good pension. My main concern is that while the RRSP will be nice to lower my taxable income now, I'm worried when I retire I'll have to withdraw too much from both the RRSP and pension. Thoughts?
Hi! I’m doing some research on employee benefits (medical insurance, 401k, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits) and was hoping to connect with People specialists or HR professionals in the comp & benefits space. I’m trying to better understand any pain points or challenges you might face with utilization/enrollment. Anyone interested in connecting? Thank you!
How much savings does a 40 year old realistically need to retire?
For sake of discussion, let’s assume house is paid off, need to purchase decent healthcare, you have a healthy 401k, and are single with no kids.
I’ll guess that you need at least $500,000?
Leaving firm soon, any advice on rolling over 401k, HSA and wealth builder? How does this work? This is my first career jump.
I am a Business Transformation consultant, having worked for Asset & Wealth Managers, Investment Bank, Boutique, Government Pension Fund, Family Office as part of my current role with a small consulting firm.
I am looking out for a new role in Singapore. Any leads or references would be helpful.
Is my Merrill lynch benefits 401k eligible for bank of America preferred cash rewards? Would love to have my 401k balance count towards that
What should my title be?
Hello, EAs! I work for a small PE Consulting firm where I have been the EA to the CEO, CAO and MDs for 4 years (15 YOE).
I’m transitioning into a more ops/HR function developing our HR dept (we currently use a PEO) from scratch and will have 3 EAs reporting to me. I will be heavily involved in recruiting, benefits, payroll, 401K, training, mentoring, morale & culture & moderately involved in biz dev and marketing.
What would be an appropriate title for this role?
24 yr old, 110k TC, maxing out Roth IRA and Roth 401k, no debt or large expenses. Also have ~35k sitting in a bank account. What should I do with that money?? Am I better just sitting on it for a while then watching it shrivel up in my brokerage account?
Does anyone else think we will see a big market correction in 2022 to the tune of 10-40%?
What should I expect for bonuses at Merck?
I know with WFH there is really nowhere else to go, but work has been driving me crazy and I haven’t taken any time off since February. Would it be unreasonable of me to ask for a week off in the next few weeks to celebrate my SO’s birthday and to just decompress? For background, I’m part of a very small in-house team which makes it harder for me to not feel guilty for taking time off. I also have been dreading asking my boss this question and feel like if I don’t ask now, it’ll never happen...
EMP is overrated
The ladder in EY consulting:
Associate Consultant 1
Senior Consultant 1/2
Senior Manager 1/2/3
In the offer letter it's mostly mentioned HR band which is different from this, HR band is just the seniority level as per the org structure just for the reference for HRs.

What the hell is with all of these "entry-level" jobs saying you need 3-5 YOE for the role? I'm lost as to how I'm supposed to get my foot in the door as a mechanical engineer anywhere with these jobs descriptions.
What do you guys know about the IR section? I got a 6 and I’m worried it’ll hurt my chances.

*Sealed Classes in Java 17*
The sealed class allows one to describe which class or interface can extend or implement this class or interface. In short, we can put restrictions on who can use this class or interface. Suppose we have Student abstract class and if we make it a sealed class and permit only ScienceStudent and CommerceStudent to extend the class, then only those classes will be able to extend the Student and other classes will get an error if they try to extend it.
Microsoft 🐟 I got an initial offer from the technical specialist team at L64 for 240k OTE and 150k RSU/4 yrs. Thoughts on if I can get the RSUs any higher? I have a competing offer that’s higher that I haven’t mentioned to them yet. Thanks!
I’m grateful for Fishbowl and meeting people here, despite virtual. I’m grateful to have found inspiration and motivation from some posts here, and also a few people that I’ve talked to. I’m looking forward to meeting some of you in person soon… waiting for the planned get together being planned here.
