I can't think of a single startup outside of legal tech that has a lawyer founder

Candidate Yang's test prep company that was somehow sold to uncritical media as a "tech startup" was founded by a several month alumnus of Davis Polk, right? and that was bought for a few tens of millions, I gather. (and that one fairly successful exit was the basis of the uncritical media characterization of him as a wealthy tech entrepreneur)

History is littered with failed companies founded by lawyers, but a couple of wild successes come to mind: Peter Thiel, former Sullivan and Cromwell securities lawyer who founded PayPal David Bonderman, former Arnold and Porter litigation partner who founded TPG Capital An interesting discussion topic would be why lawyers often suck as entrepreneurs.

When you think about it, every lawyer who has ever hung a shingle is technically an entrepreneur.

Saw an interesting role but trying to figure out how this will affect my earnings and career trajectory if I leave consulting (currently 2nd year consultant).. What's the salary band for an Associate Director at AbbVie? Is AD considered the same as Snr Manager at other firms? Should I be pushing for a Director level role? Any advice?

I’m currently a manager at a T2 firm in the US with 4 yoe post MBA from a top 10 US school (5 yoe in Canada before b-school). Thinking of coming back to Canada but exit ops to industry I have seen in the US seem to pay~$250k+. Are there similar high paying jobs in Canada or am I right in thinking comp is way lower for someone at my career stage and I should stay in the US?

I wanna build my resume by learning a new skill like SQL, but those certifications can take a while. If I wanna find a new job before busy season and apply and start the job search now, I can’t add that to my resume. should I just mention it in interviews?

Can others chime in in what my salary actually should be? (Range is fine) For so long I never talked salary with peers so I honestly am not sure anymore... but I’m leaning towards thinking I’m underpaid. 8 YoE - all federal government related, TS/SCI with CI poly, CGFM. Only a bachelors, no masters. TIA.
