I can't think of a single startup outside of legal tech that has a lawyer founder
Candidate Yang's test prep company that was somehow sold to uncritical media as a "tech startup" was founded by a several month alumnus of Davis Polk, right? and that was bought for a few tens of millions, I gather. (and that one fairly successful exit was the basis of the uncritical media characterization of him as a wealthy tech entrepreneur)

History is littered with failed companies founded by lawyers, but a couple of wild successes come to mind:
Peter Thiel, former Sullivan and Cromwell securities lawyer who founded PayPal
David Bonderman, former Arnold and Porter litigation partner who founded TPG Capital
An interesting discussion topic would be why lawyers often suck as entrepreneurs.
When you think about it, every lawyer who has ever hung a shingle is technically an entrepreneur.
