When your main client contact is a boomer...

Just rolled off my project and projects are coming to me and wanting to staff me. However, I have a job offer and will be putting my 2 weeks after November 12. Should I join a new project or reject everything and cruise on the bench?

How do you handle it when you have a client, you have a reasonably good relationship with the husband and the wife and then one of them tells you they are splitting?

New to consulting and on a project that I don’t have knowledge in, what are some recommended approach to ramp up on new project and learn?

Do people ever get caught lying about hours? I can see other associates hours, and there is one person who gets online at 10 and off by 4 but still some how manages to put 10 hrs down of billables. I work so hard just to honestly put that many hours in so it’s frustrating. Just wondering if it ever catches up to people.

Maybe I’ve had bad ones but find most to be literal, boring, and adamant on forcing mediocre work. Plan A: get really good at craft to make a good living freelancing as a senior Plan B: freelance as CD (will that save me from client facetime or nah?) Disclaimer: I do still want to make $$$

Any advice on how to actually take PTO? Every time I’ve tried, I get booked on a client and told I’ll need to work through my PTO. I have literally taken 2 days of PTO the entire year. I keep scheduling well in advance and at times when there is nothing on my schedule close to the requested PTO (so shouldn’t end up with runoff work). I even tried telling them the moment I noticed I was scheduled during PTO. They tell me to cancel because I’ll have time for it later. I’m now booked through 12/31

Hi - I’ve started to consult a new agency, an 8 month contract ending Dec,2020. The client is to ‘pay’ me in art plus a retainer reduced by over 60% of my standard rate (because of the painting. Art=1 piece at the end of the contract, but only if I complete the entire contract. IF I don’t stay on/company doesn’t get off the ground or relationship doesn’t work out, he can sever the contract. He is difficult & volatile and has yet to give me a contract 1 month in. Have I agreed to a bad deal?
