When you’re an intern, got an offer, but the new associate on your team makes it a point to ask every other intern but you to get lunch in front of you every day 😬. Stay, change teams, or jump ship?

This!

Find out if they have an issue with you. If you feel they are unreasonable, ignore them. It’s a big world, why do you have to leave the job for that 1 person’s weirdness!

People have their own unconscious biases. If you fee that you have not done anything to deserve a cold shoulder, don’t give any credit to their negativity. Sometimes being kind to an offensive person might shame them into being nice. It might not work, but then you would have at least tried. As long as their behavior does not affect your performance review, rating etc.. just brush it off and focus on being so good that you won’t need their approval.

That is actually a form of harassment. Probably addressed in your firms training

That’s rude and childish of her, but really, why do you care? You have an offer.... Not everyone is friends in the real eorld

I agree but I am also concerned about my ability to progress in my career if I do full time since my group doesn’t change up teams and I would be working with someone who doesn’t really accept me every day

She isn’t worth your time. Just remember that because one day she will need you for something pertaining to work and that’s when you get petty!

Bro, what? Maybe you’re not that exciting to be around and based on this point kind of annoying? Projects and teams change all the time. It’s not that serious.

This person doesn’t owe their time. They probably work in the same space and wouldn’t you say it’s shadier to do it behind their back? Sounds like someone what’s attention.

Told an intern at my firm in a different group that reached out to try and join my team that he should be prepared to work 60-70 hours. He smugly laughed and said everyone he knows at our firm works that many hours (we are a B4 and it’s certainly not the case). Then he proceeded to tell me he leads a 10 person workstream. Then he asked me to refer him to managers to get him transitioned into our group. Posting so others can also get a kick out of this.

In my younger years (internship - 23 then), I developed sexual feelings for our managing partner (Female by the way). He was 50+M. Because of this, I opted to leave the firm as it would have been a distraction. Now I am grown and 32. I feel the need to go back to the firm (it's a good firm that is well ranked). The partner is no longer the managing partner but, were I to move back... I am likely to be in his practice team. What do you think?

Anyone else get tired of the LinkedIn charade? Every day I see countless posts by people in advertising/marketing that come across as preachy, self-indulgent, humble brags that annoy me. Like, the pompous CEO/CD who writes a long post about that time he hired an intern and learned a valuable life lesson that we could all learn. Or the super-duper smart Copywriter who regurgitates Olgyvisms that we’ve all read a billion times to show his or her worth. It’s 2020. And I’m jaded.

If you started working at a company for like a year as a staff level, for example 2019-present, and this is reflected on LinkedIn, do you guys update any promotions to show it as (the date or year of promotion) -present... or just show it as 2019-present?
