When you're leaving your firm in a few months, but haven't yet given notice, how hard do you fight to keep your hours up? I'm not looking to coast, just wondering how worried I should be if I slip below 160 hours this month and if it's normal to slow down on hours when you know your departure is imminent.

Are PE/ VC hours for associates / entry level really better than IB? Please respond if your in PE/ VC your honest weekly hours. Curious if it’s worth switching form IB or just changing careers if I can’t take these long hours anymore.

Money management tips? Or resources for learning to manage money? Grew up with parents who know nothing about money and have 0 saved for retirement. Now that I’m making good money I want to make sure I don’t repeat their mistakes.

New corporate junior associate here. How do you gauge whether you are supposed to finish an assignment over the weekend or if it can wait until Monday? If you get an assignment Friday night, do you just automatically work on it on Saturday or do you ask the partner? How do you ask them (i.e. your exact email response)?

Why are the expectations on billable hours so extreme on lawyers? Consulting, accounting and other comparable jobs, apart from investment bankers, are way below lawyers.

And it’s not that lawyers won’t make enough money if they work less - reduce hours by 10% and you’d still be making fortunes as a partner and a small fortune as an associate.

If you receive an offer that doesn’t include a sign-on bonus, is it kosher to counter and include a sign-on bonus? How would you introduce that?
